Speaking of coffee, I was the coffee boy for the revival of Candide on Broadway with Andrea Martin as the Old Lady. One day Hal Prince asked me to go down to the bookstore to find a word in the thesaurus to substitute for a word in the script that wasn't funny, one of Andrea's lines. (I think it was The Strand. This was 1997. Before looking up words on Google.) I came back to The Gershwin and went to Ms. Martin's dressing room. She took my list and said the problem line over and over again, once for every word I wrote down. I probably gave her 10 words. I can't remember the word or the line, but I remember that she made every single one of them funny. The word didn't matter. Just her. It was like a little performance just for me. This was also the production where Stephen Sondheim came to rehearsal once, and everyone stopped what they were doing. A hush of reverence. And then he sat down two rows right in front of me in the empty house. We watched rehearsal. What memories. Thank you, Toni. 💕

This the truth, without losing the previous stuff, she has got vim...and vigor..her skys the limit personality..is infectious..it make you root for her and her audience...I must admit I fell under her spell...waaaaay back!

It's called "Somebody" from Harvey Schmidt and Tom Jones' "Celebration." It's one of those wonderful show's nobody has ever heard of. It's super fun to sing :)
