It's so pathetic that OBUDU MOUNTAIN RESORT is left to rot away. I was here in December 2009 for two days during my annual leave. I got some sort of soul healing here. The environment is salubrious, serene, and the perfect escape from life hustles. I recall my cable ride to the Bottom hill on my departure.

Great reporting, the government of Nigeria must learn to hand over business related issues like this to renowned business people and focus their attention in the management of the society. The government does not have the capacity to run business and self interest has always been the bane of government failures in Nigeria. Had this business been handed over to a reputable business concern, employment would have been created, tax revenues would have been generated and everyone would have been happy.

Did you say Nigerian 🇳🇬 Government? That tourist site does not belong to the Nigerian Government. It's owned by Cross Rivers State Government.

This beautiful tourists site is fading away, what is wrong with us. Yet we pay huge amount to travel to other part of the world to enjoyed what we have back home because we fail to manage and maintained what we have.

We are a wasteful people that have all it takes to be at the top but we abuse every opportunity available to us. This is something that could have created jobs for hundreds of people and alleviate the poor standard of living. Lack of continuity and maintenance culture is one major problem plaguing the Nigerian society.

This is a well detailed and enlightening video! A great job is done. I enjoyed and learnt new information. It saddens me that the new administration has little interest in the development of the ranch.

It's a shame on the state government. Ayade has destroyed everything he met in the state. Shame on him.

This is my advice, the State Government should form a private-public cooperation or seek for local & international asset management companies that is effective enough to run this place. The Federal Government has no plan for Nigeria's growth so please don't waste your time calling on them. Overseas, assets like this are mostly managed by private companies or public-private cooperations & the only power solution here is to build a private power station, generators & the national grid can never work, assets like this mostly have their independent power, if this asset was in Lagos, the story would be better than this bcos Lagos has now taken the tourism sector away from Cross-River.

My brother they know what to do but won't. Private hands running it means no more corrupt dealings and money stealing.

You can't even breathe clean air in Lagos, people are crazy. I'd rather visit Cross River any day. I guess people prefer concrete, pollution and traffic jams to fresh air and beautiful landscapes. Just shows where their "heads are at". Pity!!! We can never seem to get anything right even in the 21st century. Nigeria really has monumental issues regarding steady power and provision of drinking water. We really have a problem that to date we can't seem to handle. It is extremely shameful to hear any enterprise is suffering from the lack of these BASIC amenities. Maintenance of anything is ALWAYS an issue in Nigeria. What Cross River needs is to work on is security for foreigners (and quality products) and work on advertising to the middle to upper end of the business market in the Western world.

It's a shame, it was running before with or without Power sector, the problem is that when the government changes there is no continuation of the State have, they just create new things to eat the money, some should buy it and keep it for running for the peoples and the State.

The Nigerian government are just dream killer…. This should have been a money making machine with all the beautiful features it has. God bless Donald Duke for all his efforts in building this paradise on earth.

Nigeria simply does not have policy of continuity where an incoming administration will be compelled to continue projects inherited from the predecessor. This is a federal asset and I think the federal government should channel more investment into the resort.. Those of us in the diaspora would love to come home to something that will show us the the tourism industry can compete with the rest of the world 🌎

On the contrary, it's not a Federal asset. It's owned by the Cross Rivers State Government. The Duke administration invested hundreds of millions of dollars on developing the Obudu Resort, Calabar Carnival, Tinapa, monorail, Tinapa Film Studio, etc. Sadly, successive administrations abandoned the blueprint and allowed them to rot away. The State has potentials to earn billions from tourism.

@@andersonojoshimite6047As much as agree with you,. We should also understand that continuity doesn't mean the property has to be a federal asset. It means the maintenance of the property should be a continuous process regardless of the sitting administration and precinct or geographical location of the property. The lack of continuity and maintenance culture is the reason why Nigeria is behind in infrastructural development.

I keep saying Donald Duke is the best thing that ever happened to cross-river state, I really wish he can become a president, this man will turn Nigeria around and in a year we will see visible changes. but too bad Nigeria don't like good things. All this Useless ppl in power don't understand that this country that they don't give a fuck about is also theirs. If they like they should turn the country into ladipo market that is their problem.
