While the song itself is amazing and all, can I just express how much I love the picture of Mario and Sonic here? It’s so nostalgic and captures their rivalry back in their earlier days that looking at it takes me back in time. I love these old 3D renders so much. I would hang this picture on my wall if it was turned into a poster. I simply love seeing Mario and Sonic together on screen. They just look so cool together. I suppose the red and blue dichotomy is just that appealing to look at.

Thats a detail I never see people mention and in other versions of this song (Tails, Luigi/ Peach and Amy) it always kinda ends with them really selling the "Friendly Rivalry" trope and I love it

In every single Mario and Sonic crossover game, the two have always been stuck in two categories. Mario is the generalist. He's the guy you depend on when you just want a good time and nothing more. His playstyle in most games revolves around boots-to-the-ground functions and dependable game knowledge to rely on. Sonic, though, is more of a specialist comparatively. If he's not using his speed, then he's got some kind of a miscellaneous gimmick that ties his whole playstyle together, whether it be some big fuck-off move, a different meter system, or just modified stats in general. This, in my opinion, perfectly captures the nineties' rivalry between Jump and Speed.

Ok, having a mario and sonic old-school like crossover with this picture of them side by side is just outstanding ! Imagine if nintendo and sega were friends back then ! There's so many references too ! Like the "sonic rush" like music, metalic madness (sonic), Ska cha cha from rush at 0:40 (honestly my favorite song from rush, ya grooviiiiin'), the underground theme of super mario bros 0:54, the shadow mario theme from mario galaxy at 1:06. Whoever made this, i wanna tell him a HUGE thank you ! Pretty he got inspirered by the recent sonic and blaze rush mod from FNF ! Anyway, seeing this image made my day...
