I looked up several videos trying to understand what an occluded front was exactly. This made so much more sense than the other ones I was watching. Although my understanding is that there are two types a warm and a cold occluded front. Would you go into more detail and explain the difference between those? Do they have a different effects on the weather? Thanks

occulded fronts only forms when there is a warm and cold front and on other side of the warm air another layer of cold weather pushes the warm air up as it has to meet the colder air on other side as pressures change the warm air moves upward. warm air condenses and the cloud droplets in the atmosphere turn into bigger rain droplets and when reached to the temperture below 0 centigerade may rain or produce hail and tornados. while the cold air with do produce a little rain but not for long

Yes, you are correct - this video is detailing a cold-type occluded front. There are warm-type occluded fronts as well. These usually form off the Western coast of continents, where we have warmer(ish) maritime polar air masses (mP) meeting the colder continental polar (cP) air masses. This is because of land/ocean contrasts where we know land heats/cools much faster than oceans/water and so during the winter, the ocean (maritime) air is often a bit warmer than the continental colder air. Anyways, what happesn is this warmer air mass overruns the cP air mass - the warmer air is lighter and so it is lifted over the cold cP air mass. The warm-type occluded front is very similar to a warm front -- just like the cold-type occluded front is similar to a cold front. In a warm-type occluded front, precipitation will be light to moderate and more spread out. (if the warmer air that is lifted over the cold cP air mass is conditionally unstable, then you may have more severe weather develop due to a vertical cloud development, from instability). Hope this helps!

Sean, Thank you so much! I am a pilot and finishing my instrument rating. I have been looking through all my aviation books for a good definition for an occluded front. All the definitions were fairly vague and noncommittal. Your explanation on these type of fronts was so helpful. Thanks!

I have a doubt in it please anyone clear it.. how there is low pressure happening near the occluded front.....when there was warm air masses it's low pressure. But after it was pushed high by cold air mass then there should be high pressure .... .how could they Still saying low pressure?
