May you help with non verbal therapy. My son is 18 months amd use to talk but no longer speaks after about 4 months

I would ask your pediatrician for a speech evaluation from a licensed speech language pathologist

My child’s speech therapist says that she could benefit from occupational therapy but my child is shy and she doesn’t come out of herself for a while and I feel like she didn’t get a proper evaluation of my child. My child is good at the fine motor skills you’ve mentioned and beyond. I’m not sure how she came to that conclusion. Is there something I’m missing?

I feel the same way my 5 yo in kindergarten is very shy with new people and his new teacher also said my son could benefit from OT because of his weak pencil grip. I know he knows how to write because he does it at home all the time. I was also the same way in school not wanting to answer questions because of anxiety even though I knew the answers.

My son likes to climb/run/crash a lot during the day and really struggles to relax and fall asleep at night. (Despite active days, a low stimulus night time enviroment and consistent bedtime routine) Could he benefit from an OT?

I think he could very well benefit from O.T.! At least an O.T. consult or short-term OT for home exercise programs. :) If he doesn't have a delay or diagnosis, he may not qualify for OT through insurance. But some parents choose to do OT consults or short-term OT just to collaborate on ways to help their kiddos get their needs met and see increased functional skills/independence.

No specific age. It’s really a general guide to help you discern whether your kiddo may benefit. Developmental delay can happen at any point (typically within the first few years of life), but there are many factors that could impact fine & gross motor skills and/or visual processing skills.
