This was a great deal of information. I’m a mother to a 9 year old son with OCD & Autism. This explains more than any DR in Florida has been able to tell me about the connection of the 2. Much appreciated.,

My 16 yr old son has autism and ocd, and ticks all the boxes mentioned here. Unfortunately we live in an isolated rural area and finding a therapist with the necessary experience seems impossible, and though it’s helpful to hear that others are in the same boat, it would be marvellous to have advice on how family members can facilitate some recovery from OCD…

What about if the person is non verbal? I don’t think my non verbal son can do cognitive therapy

Not gonna lie you made me feel stupid 😭 I have ASD high functioning and I feel that your view of us is obviously biased, if you met me you honestly would not know people are honestly surprised everytime I let a friend know 😎 it doesn't mean that I don't have problems but I keep them secret. I have honestly come across this attitude to often I'm not a child I do have a brain and yes I have a tested high IQ and very social that does not negate the fact I have ASD

Hi, I just saw this comment. I'm sorry you felt stupid with what I said. Not my intention.. There is a lot of variability within the Autism spectrum. If it helps contextualize- in this video I'm speaking about people who are often coming to us for therapy, struggling in many ways and by the time they are accessing therapy for OCD, some aspects of ASD are hard to disentangle. Also, I could speak about so many different patients for days, I tried my hardest to capture in an hour some of the largest generalities I see in the bulk of my patients. But, this defiantly means there are others who don't fall in this category. I'll be sure to emphasize that more.
