I’m honestly kind of shocked. Being aware of my eye floaters was an obsession that consumed my life for like two years. I’ve never seen anyone else ever mention being even slightly concerned about this before. It’s honestly surreal to see this acknowledged

Being hyper aware of your mortality is what i’m going through…and it’s kinda awesome and scary at the same time HOWEVER I’ve been telling myself that it never bothered me before, so it won’t bother me now. I was aware of the concept of death at 6, and aware of the infinites of the cosmos at 10. I’m 22 and my brain isn’t done developing, IT BETTER NOT BOTHER ME NOW.

I’ve had floaters that I can remember since highschool. A few years ago I went to a new eye doctor with new equipment and they noticed something weird going on with my left eye. At first doctor thought it was an optic pit which can cause retinal detachment. Yikes!! After more testing it turns out I just have a misshapen or “anomalous” disc. I was probably just born with it and it should be totally fine. After my initial appointment all of a sudden I started noticing a ton of floaters! I had major anxiety over this and even went back to the eye doctor. I thought something had to be wrong. Like in your video, it’s just normal floaters with no issues, but my brain didn’t think so. I constantly would check to see if they were still there and would constantly see my floaters and get anxiety over them. Fast forward a few years… I barely even notice them anymore! Your brain truly can filter a lot of that out when you accept them and honestly don’t focus on them (easier said than done) but my experience is proof that your brain will zone in on your anxieties and when you focus on things you will see them more. Also, that you can get to a point where it no longer bothers you.

@thesegamesforever9519 yep I've asked the same! My 14 yr old has it bad, I've started to supplement vitamin b1, as I heard that can help it, could be the missing link, also I'm going to get her to try 'earth herself',(barefoot on the grass or concrete everyday 20 minutes)....the earth is negatively charged, we are positively charged, sometimes we need to go barefoot outside on concrete ,add a splash of water on the feet as a conductor (no bull, it's science) the earth takes our excess positive energy and so we feel calmer, there has to be a cause for this OCD.......

Went through something similar except there were so many that they blocked my vision in one eye. I ended up having to get surgery to help my vision. I was lucky because it worked…so far. 😊 It’s been about 5 months. My other eye is bad. Hundreds of them but not like the one I had surgery on. My point is floaters are common but if anyone reading gets lots of floaters it actually could be a sign of a retina tear or detachment and it is good to get it checked out but if it turns out to be nothing, you have to force yourself to see past them. It will take over your life if you don’t. Trust me. I know. I am having to work on that with one of my eyes. If I react to seeing them, I panic. I have to do just like he said and say to myself, right now I’m ‘fill-in-the-blank’. It’s hard but the alternative is to make myself feel worse and panicked. Just my two cents.

I feel like this strategy should apply to my tinnitus but recently I’ve really been struggling to cope with it. I think part of the problem is I know I will have it for the rest of my life so it is not so much ‘what if’ since I already know. I am just finding the acceptance difficult - it has recently been so intrusive.

Thanks, Nate! I struggle with reading a lot. When I read, a lot of times I might wonder, "Did I actually ready that?" or, "Did I read that correctly?" especially if it's for like an assignment or something where I have to sign at the end, indicating I read and understood everything. It's definitely a work in progress, but sometimes I just move on and say and/or think, "I might've read that. I'm just going to keep going," or something like that.

All docs say nothing wrong with me, yet i cant help but freak out and look for symptoms first thing when i wake up. This vid resonated with me, as while I'm unsure what could cause my symptoms. But i also need to accept and not let myself get brought down. Gotta deal things one day at a time and not hyperfocus on the past.

I really needed this today since I can sooooo relate (too many coincidences with this channel 😉)! Thank you so much. I’m a health anxiety and GERD sufferer diagnosed with a rare disorder of my oesophagus (1 in 100,000... Yup, that’s what an OCD sufferer wants to hear 🫣😂). Food pipe basically doesn’t push food down properly and specialists don’t know why 🤷‍♀️. It’s manageable and when I don’t obsess over it turning into cancer one day, I barely recognise it. I just need to eat slower & get on with life. As we get older, s**t will come up. We’ll face weird symptoms & unfortunate diagnosis but that’s just life! Live in the moment, accept that if something happens, we’ll deal with it if and when it happens ❤.

@Gimlinti

Yes, it can be tricky but its possible ! Mental compulsions are things like mental arguing, reviewing past events, trying to predict the future/other people's reactions, or 'sanitise' a thought (and many others). I'd say when you feel a thought trying to pull you in a certain direction, examine what that feels like and how you feel you have to respond to it. This often feels like a capital H HAVE TO, but try to see what happens when you let the anxious thought boil over.

Hey. This has happened to me. You have to accept the thoughts as they come and go, because OCD attacks your values. Whatever you care about the most, for example, if you care about nice things and doing nice things, it'll attack that and make you think otherwise. It'll throw in images, urges, words, thoughts, sensations, and anything that makes you doubt, hence why OCD is the "doubting disorder." This isn't reassurance so don't use it as such! It's just how OCD operates. Also stop telling yourself it doesn't mean anything, you're reassuring yourself and it's just gonna make things worse. Instead, ignore it, or say "maybe that's how it should be, maybe not" like Nathan does!

I woke up one morning and suddenly had tons of floaters in both eyes. Long stringy ones, circles, super dark ones...all at once. My OCD went into hyperdrive (I'm not old so I must be dying, it was cancer, I'm going blind). After I was told the floaters were permanent, it took a while to get used to, and OCD didn't help with that either, lol.
