Ocean Blue & Sand Resort Punta Cana Hurricane Fiona Damage Report February 2023

Hi Folks, A quick little video to show travelers the results of the damage from hurricane Fiona at the Ocean Blue & Sand resort in Punta Cana.
It's a few months late but gives a person and idea of what to expect if you are traveling down this way. A lot of progress was made in the week that we were there in February 2023 so I imagine the beach around the resort is even better now 10 months later.
My next video will give you a closer look at how they reclaimed their beach and what kind of method and equipment they used to do so.
Stay tuned for the continuing story of how Ocean Blue & Sand remade their beach!

It's a beautiful place! Girls in bikinis! I really want to visit Cabarete in the D. R. I will have to get out the map, and check out Punta Cana. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Lindsey, Punta Cana was our 1st "out of the continent" vacation trip with the girls way back in 2010...13 years ago...where we stayed at the Iberostar Dominicana which was just down the beach from this resort! This resort was a very affordable and fun little resort. Not too big and not too fancy with lots of fun things to do and see. It's on the beautiful Bavaro Beach if you are looking on a map. The beach did take quite a hit from Fiona because the resort is on a point so it was the "tip of the spear" for the waves from the storm. Also, part of the resort property is very close to the beach and that didn't help the situation during the storm either. They were working very hard at mitigating the damage to the beach and actually made progress by "adding to the beach" while we were there for the week. In an upcoming video I will highlight how they are doing that with those big sand bags so you can see the process a little better. I will also do a multi-part video tour of the resort and a video of a buggy excursion that we took while we were there. So...more videos to come...something to do in the winter while I'm waiting for surfing season to return...lol! Thanks for your interest in my videos buddy! Cheers, John

Coming with my family in the next month. Would you say this overall is a good resort ?

Hi@@marcusdebellis5707 , Yes! The resort is clean and well maintained. The food was great and we loved the experience we had in the Japanese restaurant. We went to Route 66 a couple of times we liked it so much. The pools were nice and even though the beach directly in front of the resort was compromised by by storms and such, it was still nice and there is miles of beach to the other sides of the resort. The entertainment crew were fun and always around and friendly. This was just our experience and we are easy to please. I hope you like it as much as we did. We would go back no problem. Hi there r.g.3120, this video was taken in February 2023. It's been a little over a year now and I've only seen a couple of pictures of that beach in Facebook posts and it looks better but not perfect like nature intended it. Those pictures were not very detailed and I haven't looked lately to see how the beach looks. If you have time, check their Facebook page for recent pictures of the beach an you'll know more than me! Enjoy your time on the resort...we did! Cheers, John

Hi Again, I just visited their Facebook site and saw a drone shot of their beach from April 9, 2024 and it looks way better than it was when I was there...I'm wishing you all the best. Cheers, John
