I TRULY enjoy how you take your time with each video, how you paint a complete picture with all the history of each location, and your thoroughness filming each spot. I like that you don't feel it necessary to fill each and every moment with unimportant talking and/or music. Less is more. Great video!

Back in the late 80s, there was a cool shop there that sold all the typical NFL & college football jerseys, t-shirts, and caps. It was located just to the left of the main entrance.

Nothing is better than beach pizza. I also spent most of my life as a beach rat before re-locating inland. Went to OC as it was the closest beach thinking it couldn’t equal the area I came from. It is a lovely beach town a wonderful boardwalk and an amazing beach. Great job on the documentary. You could probably do a video on a plastic bag and make it highly interesting and entertaining . Love it🎥

Back in the late 70’s there was a vinyl record store in the Gold Coast Mall. At least, I always thought it was pretty great. I would find records there that I couldn’t find in my local store. I would pester my parents during the family vacation every year to stop in the mall so that I could flip through the vinyl. Silly as it may sound, I remember one record that I bought there.

I lived in MD Until I was 12 but Visited OC Every summer and quite a few winters up until about 13 years ago. For many years after moving to FL I would visit staying in both hotels, and my Aunts condo across the street from the Gold Coast Mall. I miss the Arcade, and the Mama Mia Pizzarria Though I have to admit 3 brothers is decent pizza. I haven't been since 2005. Living in Las Vegas I don't know when I'll be able to go back but I hope to one day. I hope the mall is always there in some shape or form it's a classic and has been there for what seems like forever.

i live twenty mins away from gold coast mall!! also, something that wasn’t mentioned- donald’s duck shoppe had to close to make way for tj maxx! wasn’t sure if it got relocated like the other stores or if it’s gone for good. this was a few years back. oh, and peebles is no longer- it was a gordman’s for like a year and now the liquor store has moved in that giant space from where it used to be as a standalone right outside the mall. and *that* building is now gonna be a dairy queen! also, i think fox no longer runs the movie theatre- but the theatre is still there! Another major staple in my childhood this place was so amazing when I was a kid. Every summer if I was doing well in elementary school my parents would pull me out of school on a Friday morning the week before summer break started. I can still remember all the kids going ooooooooo when over the intercom would be an announcement John Hale to the principles office. With a smirk I would grab my stuff and get ready for my most favorite vacation with my favorite people my mom and dad. We would load up in our blue ford econoline van with the captains chairs and bed bench in the back and crank some genesis or Madonna or pink Floyd and I would give my dad and mom a hug as they drove while drinking Bacardi rum and cokes to our getaway. For two weeks we would stay ocean front and every day it was to the beach for boogie boarding and my search for sea monsters that would usually end up on my board for sale (horse shoe crabs and sand dollars and jelly fish) Then we would hit the board walk for great food and all the rides I loved. There is so many things that I loved about this time in my life and I owe it all to my parents I will never forget you both I hope you guys are at the ocean city in the sky R.I.P

My folks and I often took trips to OC in our Van. We had many of them over the years. Some with just a mattress in the back to the conersion vans with the TV and a Nintendo in it. I miss my folks too....they loved OC and it was our vacation spot for so many years until I grew up and left the house. :( Sadly my dad died while we were supposed to be going on a trip to OC he ended up in the hospital the day before I was to come take him there and lived for only about 1 week after. But I'll never forget the memories we made in OC.

Great footage. I love this stuff. Thanks guys. It is such a beautiful city, love those beach houses & cottages. The arcade footage was fenomenal. I used to play 'til they closed at the arcades. I really enjoy hearing the historic bit. The competition eating champ from Asia inspired me to train for competition eating, due to struggling to keep weight on all my life, I still get the hot tea and water with lemon to expand my stomach & only eat the protein at Buffetts, all inspired by a hot dog eating competition, not sure if it was the Coney Island one though, I saw it on t.v.

My family vacationed in Ocean City every year throughout the 90's. I'd never heard of this mall. I remember as a child back then, there was a movie theater, and then a mall right next to it. I'm not sure of the name. It kind of looked like an underground mall. Now that I look back on it, the mall looked dead even back then. I remember like a dollar store and maybe a couple of other stores. I looked extensively for at least the name of the mall. I'm pretty sure it's closed and demolished now, since it was struggling even then.

I've never been to OC MD but unlike most malls that're still barely clinging on to life if not dead already, it looks like the Gold Coast mall still lives and is living good in the present retail economy. I accredit that to the mall surviving stiff local competition and an uncooperative local gov over the years, its smaller size bigger isn't better in today's shopping world, it now being the only mall in OC, and the fact that the mall doesn't have the big anchor stores that are dropping like flies. Instead they have the more modest Peebles and TJ Maxx stores that have more of a loyal cliental that the people of lower means and simple bargain hunters love. I see that mall doing more than just surviving in the foreseeable future IMO. Even though my local mall SouthPark mall a half hour south of Richmond VA in Colonial Heights is bigger than Gold Coast but not huge by any means, I was just there today! They've turned the Piccadilly Cafeteria and several store fronts into a Planet Fitness. They've shuffled tenants around that have been there for decades to make room for the Gym and they've torn down roughly 6 store fronts and they now have a H&M going up. Its supposed to be open in the fall of this year so I'm predicting it will be up and running for the Christmas season and not so much for Back to School in Sept. The only big closed space we have in the mall is when one of the four anchor stores Sears closed up shop last year. We still have JC Penny's, Macy's, and the once Hecht's later became a Dillard's and is now a Dicks Sporting Goods store. Walking through the mall I only saw 2 unoccupied stores and in the food court they've completely ripped out the old Subway. They didn't just close it up they gutted it! Subway itself has been in big trouble for a few years now, they expanded too fast everywhere so I can't blame the mall for that. But them ripping it out and starting fresh no pun intended tells me they have a new food tenant on the way. I've got to research that. But aside from the Sears closing all of these big changes at SouthPark mall have taken place since the last time I was there 6months ago! I'm just happy my mall is doing more than just surviving, its not like it was 20years ago but its still lively today. But if my mall starts to die fast I'll let you know Sal. Thanks again for another awesome video and everything that you do Sal! The history of OC and the boardwalk tour before going to the mall made it really interesting like your last one the Atlantic City video. BTW, I heard you comment on that live chat that you have been to Regency Square and Virginia Center Commons in Richmond VA. I can't wait to see those videos when you post them, I've been to Regency a handful of times but its been ages and I've been to VCC lots of time. I'll stay tuned to your channel, thanks again!

I would go to OC often but never went to the Gold Coast Mall so it was interesting to see what it’s like inside. What truly surprised me is that it still has a Peebles store! The sad thing about Peebles, is that I've heard its parent company(Stage Stores) isn't doing well. And from what I hear, may actually be in worser shape than even JCPenney is, per the report I heard about remaining cash reserves that company has on one of the business websites(forget which one I read it off of). I cross my fingers Stage can hang on as a company(unlike Bon-Ton), but we'll see what occurs down the road. Fingers crossed!

@@sal I forgot to add that I also admire your deadpan sense of humor. When someone is funny with out changing their face or tone of their voice and doesnt lose it, has got to be my all time favorite style of comedy and you've got it for sure! Thank you for taking the time and effort and as of late, the extreme determination and will to continue doing so as the powers that be make it harder and harder for people to succeed on this platform. It's a lot. And I am tremendously grateful that you do! And thank you for your response. That was very kind of you to also take the time and effort to do. So thank you, thank you, thank you.

I'd really like to see you do a review of the Wyoming Valley Mall in Wilkes-Barre Township Pennsylvania. I know it was built by Crown American after the 1972 flood from hurricane Agnus which wiped out most of the valley and the City of Wilkes-Barre. Not sure who owns it now and I don't believe any of the original shops are still there. Love your logs. Thank you so much for sharing.

Sal. Come up to the Westbrook, CT outlet mall before it's gone. Like a dozen stores left out of probably 50. Very empty outside mall.

When you said that place had been renovated just 16 years ago, that seemed hard to believe. The TJ Maxx looks decades newer than anything else there. As someone who likes bargains, I'd shop in that store, but likely nowhere else.

I wish gold coast closed instead of ocean plaza. I liked the way ocean plaza looked and i think it was the sister mall to rehoboth mall. They both had very similar designs.

Your commentary is excellent. Your video documentaries are educational. BTW I passed through Ocean City just a couple of weeks ago - on my way to Norfolk Virginia with's it's bizarre Military Circle Mall - and I did not like it. I thought is was over-developed with a lot of bad architecture. Wildwood NJ and Rehoboth Beach DE have much more charm.

I liked the commentary and learned some history. I would have liked it better if the video matched. For example talking about the inlet created by the 1933 storm while showing the underneath of the fishing pier. Huh? Or showing the Closed amusement park on the pier without explaining it was closed for the season. The GCMall commentary was very interesting. Thanks.
