I've always imagined a premise of an Oceans 11 heist movie would work incredibly well for a team of supervillains in the DC Universe called The Rogue's, who are a team of incredibly underrated Flash villains such as Captain Cold, Mirror Master, Heatwave, Weather Wizard etc... all of which have a moral code of ethics and are villains with not much adaptions and are rich with storytelling potential much like this show does.

@@jadenbryant9283 That is true but I feel like Flash's Rogue's gallery doesn't get as much attention or appreciation as well lack of development in many adaptations and media. Even in the Flash show the Rogue's weren't really a thing and it wasn't even made up of classic roster of Captain Cold, Mirror Master, Heatwave, Weather Wizard etc... The DCAU version of them was great however and I loved their interactions.

@@hasthehighground8560 Really I haven't read that comic yet, I'll have to check it out. I'd love to see more animated content or live action media adapt the Rogue's as they're such a fun and interesting team that isn't like other villain teams about taking over the world or killing a hero, they just wasn't to make a quick buck but are always taken down by Flash and so I think there's potential to portray them as underdog villains that want respect. They also have a code of ethics that fleshes them out more as human characters with their own stories to tell and that something the Flash respects as he see's his villains as human beings and people who need help

It's insane to think how many adaptations of Mark Millar's comics are there. Besides a couple of his Marvel comics being used as inspiration in MCU and Fox movies, this man puts out movie after movie and show after show adapting his comics, making a fortune from it, and on top of that, there are more adaptations on the way.

Animated Superhero adaptations that are a direct translation of the comic should be the norm for real. Edit: but it should take what works & what doesn’t to make it even better with og ideas that expand the story like the first episodes of this show.

I agree and disagree. On one hand, it is cool to see your fav comics adapted perfectly… on the other hand, if it’s just a repeat of the comics we never get innovative character changes like what was done with Mr. Freeze in B: TAS and there’s no room for Original characters that could later be added into Canon like: Harley Quinn, Livewire, Renee Montoya, etc. Just my thoughts though…

I agree that more adaptations should be closer to the originals. I get why a lot of Marvel/DC stuff truncates given how many years those characters have been around, but for stuff like Super Crooks, a simpler 1-to-1 attempt really works. I wouldn't mind hear what you think of Tiger and Bunny if you want more Superhero adjacent anime stuff to look at.

I've seen people have arguments against "comic accurate adaptations" cause they say "If I want to read the story from the comic I would just read the comic" or "if they would do 1:1 adaptation, it would just felt like water down attempt". And while it could be the case in some cases (Killing Joke the animated movie is the biggest offender), I think it ignores benefits o the "more accurate adaptations". One is the fact it IS a different medium, so it's already a different experience than watching a comic, but also how Xavier explained with Supercrooks, you can use adaptation to expend on the source material in areas that the original story didn't. That's what Invincible also did. Not to mention most of those adaptations are targeting to people that don't read comics and likely have no intrest in doing that. I'm not against adaptations that reinterpretations the source material, cause I'm all for getting a new stories that takes inspirations from the comic, while also I think with Marvel and DC at least having truly accurate translation would have been almost impossible, since many of their most popular stories depend on the fact it's based decades long history of the character, that most adaptations will never be capable of incorporate even 1/5 of it, and also the fact you do have to streamline some stuff for the sake of working in a new media. However, the fact it's the most prominent style of adaptation they made in the west, I think makes it a key factor why people think what adaptations should be. And yes, I'm also starting to get tired how everything has to be "one's vision". Sometime's it's a personal work of someone that loves the source material, other times it's just disregarding the source material altogether and do something unrecognisable. Ironically, the 1:1 adaptions that wests do is usually with the books, but maybe argument there is that comics are much "visual media" than books, idk.

Given the talk of Mark Millar's comics at the beginning, I think it'd be interesting to make a video taking a look at edgy, try hard comics like Wanted or The Boys and discuss why they don't work as opposed to stuff like Invincible, or Kick Ass, or the live action The Boys.

from what u described, it kinda reminds me of the ROGUES. the group of super villains of the flab, the fattest man alive! we got captain cold, the trickster, mirror master, captain boomerang, the weather wizard, golden glider, heat wave. the badass leader, two brutal villains, two buffoons, and one tragic villain that isn't really a villain and is just compelled by his mental illness. put 'em all together, and you got one of the best teams in comics! they're aren't just teammates, they're friends, they hang out, they stop each other from being drug addicts, they attack the flash together, they even got a moral code! it's super fun they're ALWAYS teaming up, so it's not just a mini-series. read stuff with the rogues! i'm not shilling for dc or being paid it's just really fun.and it has a very similar tone to super crooks.

Part of the issue with "faithful" adaptations of superhero comics is that there's like there can be a million different versions of a character like Spiderman or Batman in the comics, or like the same version gets some inconsistent writing between different writer's runs, or in spiderman's case, the story is forced to match the new movies because brand synergy or something. And of course, there's also a whole bunch of adaptations of the big characters, so if it a faithful adaptation has been done once, do people really want to see it again? And the big advantage that manga adaptations have over superhero comics is that manga generally don't have a million different versions of a story/characters, so it's way easier to both get into them and choose what to adapt. And of course, manga generally gets to end, and not have to go on forever and ever. With the super long running stuff like One Piece being more the exception. And granted, its not like they don't get cut short like how some superhero stuff do ( because of having to setup crossover shit, or the obligatory reboot ), because sometimes they do get cut short and might have to give the story and abrupt and unsatisfying end like with Hunter's Guild Red Hood. And even anime reboots tend to be the exception, like with Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood and Hunter X Hunter 2011, both being more faithful adaptations of the source material compared to their first adaptations. Also I say superhero comics instead of western comics because chuds always really mean them when saying manga good, western comic bad. Because it's always panels from Marvel/DC rather than non-superhero comics like Bone or Monster Allergy.

I think the reason why we don’t see one to one and animations of comic books is because of the differences between them. Usually manga is one long story but with comics there are multiple book of the same characters multiple writers that come in and out. On top of that people who watch an anime and want to know more will likely buy the manga. But as we have seen with comic book movies, they don’t seem to have that same effect. So I think companies are afraid of doing animations because they with it will replace the books and hurt book sales. That’s just my guess

You're primarily talking about marvel and DC. Comics outside of the Big 2 are one long story just like manga. @@izuto727 Not always the best idea, most super-heroes have changed drastically since their debut, being passed down through a lot of writers, through generations, being slowly molded into what we currently know them as. Take Peter Parker for example, his characterization throughout each decade changed A LOT, Peter on the original run by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko is a completely different character from today's Peter, and I'm not even talking about Zeb Well's Peter. Not only the character changed but the way comics were written and were presented changed a lot too, a faithful adaptation of those early comics would completely clash with pretty much everyone.

12:00 "if there was ever a deadpool animated series, i hope they do shit with his regeneration half as cool as this" there is a new anime called undead unluck though it may be abit gross from the nudity and shit. essentially, there's this girl, fuuko, she has unluck, anyone that makes physical contact with her will get bad luck. and then there's andy.. a dude who is undead. a person who physically can't die and seeks death. learning of unluck, he hopes to get a big enough unluck to finally kill him. he can cut his legs and use his regenerating blood to create a constant pressurized stream of blood to fly and shit. using regeneration on command to shoot out his fingers with the same blood jets
