I'm glad you choose Green Eyed Lady from Sugarloaf because it's always been my favorite. In the winter of 1968 and 69 people were dying of the Hong Kong flu. It started in the Orient but the country didn't shutdown. They were quick to develop a vaccine even though I didn't get one. But things were different then and people weren't at each other's throats. Those were certainly great times and I'm glad you featured in the presentation the Flip Wilson Show. Variety Shows are none existent and the jokes were clean and harmless. But everyone certainly had a good time.

A hole in the floorboard, eh? I had a '64 Ford, 3-speed on the column. Oh no. I wanted a Hertz 3-speed shifter...in the floor. So I cut hole...in the floorboard. Yeah, maybe a bit too big...but it worked. And then I got bored with it. I mean I was only 16 years old. So I put the shifter back on the column and covered the big hole with a floor mat. And then one night some pals and I were out ridin' 'round...and drinkin' beer...no, not that 3.2 stuff for people under 21, but that good stuff, that 6.4 stuff for "grown-ups". (Yes, there were always "grown-ups" willing to help back in those days.) And a cop saw us drinking. And he pulled us over. What he never knew is that while he was walking from his car to mine, we dumped 3 six-packs out that hole in the floorboard. He let me drive to the police station while he followed, with my pals in his car. And he never knew that as we drove away, he drove right over all that beer piled up on the side of the road. And they called out parents.... THAT was the price young people used to pay. THAT was the fear! And the cops knew it. Great video as always, Fred.

I remember the RC cola’s in the bottle, had a little rubber piece under the cap. When you peeled it off it revealed a prize. Usually 10 or 25 cents you could cash it in at the stores. That may have been around The mid-70s when I started doing that. But I also remember those cola bottles use to be worth good money back then.

October of 1970. I was also 16 getting ready to turn 17 in December. I ended up selling my tickets to Derek and the Dominoes that month as my date could not go out on a school night. It was the last chance that I would get to see Duane Allman play. I ended up going to see the Moody Blues that December with the same girl. What an evening. Thank you for sharing your memories. Have a great Monday. God bless from SoCal.

I remember Eskimo Pies. They are changing the name now because of all this PC crap.
@xyrzmxyzptlk11864 жыл бұрын
Really? That’s ridiculous. Are Eskimo’s really offended by a delicious ice cream treat named in their honour? For me, this “snowflake” mentality has gotten out of hand. ❄️

I was 13 and still trick-or-treating with my 9 year old sister on October 31, 1970. I lived in a very small town in southwest Louisiana. We got a lot of candy, gum, cookies, money, popcorn, and fried apple pies. That was in the dinosaur days when you could trust your neighbors not to mess with the treats. I don't really remember much else of that particular day. I enjoyed the trip in your Way Back Machine. Thanks.
@FredFlix4 жыл бұрын
You're welcome, Janet. Personally, I don't think they mess with our treats any more today than then. But our perception is they do, and perception rules.

That was the Halloween that a friend of mine went trick or treating only wearing roller skates, otherwise totally nude, and said, "Trick or Treat - I'm a pull toy!" when asked what he was dressed up as.

I was seven months old on 10/31/1970. Later I had that superman Halloween costume, 1977ish. I had to pause the video because I looked just like the kid in the video wearing his. Seriously twin-like

I turned 14 on my September birthday in 1970. I would walk to 7-11 and buy a Slurpee and a Tiger Beat magazine. Saturday, I would go shopping with my mom to Alpha Beta or Market Basket supermarket. My parents and I lived in Pomona, California, and this time of year we had the Pomona County fair going on for six wonderful weeks. Each year, we would get a free student ticket and discount tickets for my parents. Thanks for the memories.

Green Eyed Lady what a great song... I was yet to be born. But many times I have told my Dad I would have liked to have been born in the late 40's as he was. I would have liked to have seen the 60's. Although I would have more than likely went to 'Nam... Cracklin Rosie another great song. Good job. I enjoy your Pick a Chick vid's as well.

1970, I don't remember Halloween that year. I think my father had bought a Volkswagen and something happened and they took it back to the dealership. The reason we didn't go trick or treating that year was because my hot temoered father, who was bipolar went to every barroom and low life dumps thing his car had been "stolen" but in reality the thing was repo'd and taken back to where he bought it. I was seven that year, my sister, was four. Our Halloween was ruined that year.

I loved the video. I was 6 at the time, barely able to leave the court we lived on, let alone, walk to the 7-11, although, that would come in 3 more years, or so. I loved saturday mornings with the plethora of shows on the 3 or 4 channels. Wow, now I have cable and I can't find anything to watch, except to binge watch and Columbo, 70's version.

Joplin's first name was actually spelled 'Janis', not 'Janice'. (at 1:52). Oct. 4, only 27. Her death was ruled accidental overdose, given more potent heroin than thought, compounded by alcohol.
