This was a very relatable wrap up 😅. Sometimes I feel there's a lot of pressure to set very high reading goals of 60, 80 or 100 books a year and that may be manageable for some people but it's not for everybody. Realistically, if you have a full time job, friends and family, a regular sleeping schedule and other hobbies, plus a taste for chunky book, it's quite hard to read that many books per year. So I appreciate your honesty on doing this wrap up ☺️

I’ve definitely felt that pressure this year switching from reading as my “job” for school, to trying to balance a full time job and reading. I’m hoping to be able to have a bit more time to read in the future than these past two months, but I’m also trying to not put pressure on myself ☺️

You are exactly right about Robert Frost; the New England landscape oozes from his poems. I’m sure that being from that area, or at least visiting it, helps a reader to appreciate what he’s writing about, more, and feel the poetry, so to speak. I gave a copy of The Daughter of Doctor Moreau to a friend who is a university student. She’s of Mexican descent and I hope she likes it. Finally, you know what I said earlier about my difficulty with The Shining and foul language, however, your analysis of the book from a different point of view than horror was fascinating. I don’t think street language adds anything to the story-I remember reading Vronsky’s love scene with Anna and thought the writing was beautiful and not in the least lurid. Of course, these are only my opinions, or perhaps taste. Keep the videos coming, Valerie, I look forward to each one!

Being in New England definitely gave me a new appreciation for his work, and Stephen King isn’t for everyone so I can understand why people wouldn’t prefer his work. Thank you for watching!

Crazy, I'm (re)reading The Island of Doctor Moreau right now! I just got it as a gift. 😁 And that'll be my 12th book of November. 🤣 I didn't read anything in October because I was cramming for exams, but I'm on break from uni now and reading obsessively to make up for lost time. 😂 Every month is different, so don't worry about reading less sometimes!

I love that! And wow that's a lot of books! I also used to cram all my reading in during my breaks to make up for all the time I was reading assigned books. 😆 I definitely agree that every month is different, the fluctuations have just felt so drastic recently lol, but I need to remind myself of this!

I picked up Silvia Moreno Garcia's book Certain Dark Things, but I don't know when I'll get round to it(I have never read any of her work).Nature poetry is anything but boring. If you read Dickens you will find he makes these literary excursions into nature thus showing his versatility as a writer and I've no doubt had he chosen to devote himself exclusively to poetry we would have been treated to some choice material, but the sad fact is writing poetry for a living is a tough gig!💝

I haven’t read that one, I hope you enjoy it when you end up reading it! And I can definitely see Dickens being an excellent poet.
