I've been thinking about your insta stories where you talk about being scared to go full time with KZfaq because you might lose your relatability, and at first I thought yeah you probably would, I like watching people with real jobs not influencers. But then as I thought more about it there may be a way for you to do it without becoming unrelatable - for one thing, if you continue with this content nothing will change, other than the source of your income. And if you keep going with your masters it still feels like you are working towards a career in healthcare, which we all know is what you have wanted all this time so it's not like you've sold out and given up on all your previous goals. And thirdly, it is kind of relatable to want to go full time as a KZfaqr because who the heck wouldn't want to do that if they got the opportunity? I think if you approach it as pragmatic and business focussed as possible and explain from the get-go how you're doing this to focus on your business and marketing skills and still keep it focussed towards a career vision it would be well received. At the end of the day, even healthcare needs communications specialists so mastering skills in social media and running a business would still make sense for your goal of working in healthcare long term. As long as you don't start talking only about what it's like to be a KZfaqr and instead talk about what it's like to work from home and work for yourself, it wouldn't be a huge shift in content.

Thank you SO much for taking the time to write out this thoughtful comment, I really appreciate it! Honestly my goal if I EVER puruse content creation full time for a season of life is to keep up the way I live (not start giving into lifestyle creep). I also agree that I think most people if given the opportunity would LOVE to work for themselves but those are also the same people who say they would stop watching me if I did. I do hope to stay in healthcare long term truthfully! I love doing KZfaq and will do it as long as I can but down the line I really want to balance being in healthcare and social media!

Also love that you're so transparent about budgeting and discuss it in just a non-judgmental, accessible way for anyone, regardless of income! I'm curious about the decision to keep Disney money on giftcards vs in a saving account/sinking fund with interest like your other savings goals ?

Just a personal choice! We prefer having them on gift cards so we avoid foreign rates on our CC when we travel to the US!

I have a few older videos on this but alot of it was done in therapy truthfully! My money issues were rooted in my teenage years because from a young age caring for a horse I had ALOT of responsibility and I wasn't able to spend money on myself or save so when I first started making a liveable wage I wanted to spend everything because I didn't get that growing up! That's when I started to go to therapy (I used Better Help) and talk through my money issues!
@michael_harren

@@CarterSullivan Gotcha! I have been working on this stuff in therapy too, which is kinda how I found my way to your KZfaq. Getting this budgeting stuff has been a real challenge for me with some mental health issues, ADHD, etc. I've got a lot of weird beliefs about money and being a musician which I am JUST finally getting my head around at 53 years old! Having this kind of creator life wasn't as "acceptable" as it is now years ago. I'm just getting to the point where I am treating my business as a real business. Your videos and approach to this is really helping me so much with this too, so I thank you!

Is this a normal amount of income for Canada? Because 5.500 eur is an insane amount of money for Germany, most of the jobs pay around 2.000 - 3.000 eur when you are at your twenties. I am so impress about the amount of money she has, as for ejemple I can image putting 500 eur a month for Christmas gift just for fun.

Just a curiosity why would you not pay yourself back your quarterly taxes out of your business acount so that would bring your emergency account back up considering it was a business related. just curiousity
@CarterSullivan
@CarterSullivan Жыл бұрын
That's honestly a very valid point! In a normal situation, I would have but the timing of it all didn't work out. TBH you never know when brands are going to pay you/that pay is sporadic so that bank account really fluctuates in its amount. I didn't have the funds currently to transfer over! I invest the leftover from the account at the end of every quarter to my RSP so I don't get dinged as much on my taxes and start fresh and since Q4 was just about to come I had just invested the remainder! It was also just a pricey business month with buying my new computer etc and I had paid myself out about $2000 to put towards debt so like a normal bank account it's getting quite low which is normal because accounts fluctuated. Since getting paid by brands is sporadic and not consistent I don't really know the next time I'll get paid so I'd rather just add it back in now because I always like to have a fully funded emergency fund! Better to fill it now than sit around and wait to see when a brand will pay me and risk it in my opinion!

If you're in Canada, EQ is a great place for sinking funds because it's a high-interest savings account and it lets you open up to (i think) 5 buckets that you can name, so it makes keeping track of amounts super easy! They also support etransfer so it's easy to get money out quickly if needed
