I never had the habit of reading, but this year i decided to read. It s everything so new for me and then I decided a goal (first) it was 6 books in 12 months, but in 5 months i had read all the 6 books so changed my goal to 12 books in 12 months, by now ive read 13 books. Im very happy cause last year i just didn read at all, so

I'm proud on you.😊🎉 In my first reading year I only read 2 quite short books. This is my second year and I'm on 20 (so far). So, with this logic, next year its going to be 200, right?🤔🤡

I actually understand this! Last year I planned to read 15 books and read 3 because I got into a reading slump and even this year I did till I just got back into reading and my goal now is 10 which in September I reached the goal and am now currently 12 books over my goal!! So I'm proud of you for reaching your goal and for enjoying reading!!

It’s weird but October was actually one of my worst reading months I had this year. I only read 5 books and I sorta feel bad because I am normally reading a LOT this time of year 😅

Hi Katie! You should try The Last tale of the flower bride by Roshni Choksi. I am currently reading it and it has things you love , like sentient houses, mysterious past , folklores and atmospheric writing. Personally this is the first time I'm a book like that but you might like it. By the way I love your videos so much! 💕 I literally re-watch and binge them whenever possible. ❤️ Keep making reading vlogs, absolutely love them! ❤️

As far as A Study in Drowning goes, the dark academia genre is defined by its critique of the elitism in academia. I’ve never read it, but I thought this might help.

The whole of September and October I maybe read 4 books total. Was in one of my worst reading slumps ever. But I'm getting back into reading now so hopefully can read a bunch of books before the year ends!

I loved Sleepy Hollow and Interview with the Vampire! Stay out of the Basement was my first Goosebumps book ever as a child. The atmosphere got me hooked to the series back then so it's very nostalgic! But after I had read the entire collection it also ended up on the pile of my least favourites.

My favourite book of October was easily The Fragile Threads of Power by V. E. Schwab. It was my absolute most anticipated book release of 2023 and it did not disappoint in the slightest. It was everything I wanted it to be and more. I just loved that book so so much and had such a fantastic reading time with it 🥺🧡

I read one book in October. And it was The Ex Hex and between work and after work things it took me all of October. It also just took me forever to find more than just a hint of interest in the book, and once i was finally interested it was over. The ending was super rushed. But it was a cute story.

Personally I think of Dark Academia as academia or academic pursuits being used as a setting/ vessel for criticism of how those institutions can be corrupted or misused. The setting/ aesthetic is just window dressing in my opinion, especially when the setting & vibes is more important than the actual core of the story. Vibes wise A Study in Drowning isn’t very ~dark academia aesthetic~ but I think the core of the story actually fits the themes well (I wouldn’t say it’s a super STRONG Dark Academia novel) but it centres literary and institutional criticism. Other Dark Academia books like The Atlas Six and A Deadly Education fall short of the sub genre in my opinion, since those books are to me, almost all vibes without a lot of real critique or substance. For this reason, a lot of super popular ‘Dark Academia’ books, don’t seem to work for me 😭 Love your videos!!

I picked up My roommate is a Vampire on a whim to read on a flight recently, and am thoroughly enjoying it! So much fun and I love the colour scheme on the cover. Also quite a change of pace from the book I finished on the first half of the flight - The Murder of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha Christie. Another really enjoyable book. Now I know the solution, I’m going to have to reread it to truly appreciate all the ‘hints’ as the story progresses.

Just a heads up I would recommend reading the Skyward flight (the three novella bind up) before reading the last book, there’s a lot of information that I think is going to playing into the last book!

You had never read sci fi! That's amazing, now you can discover all the great stuff for the first time! 😄 Definitely read Scythe, it's like Interview with the vampire but instead of vampires it's scythes and sci fi in a world where people are immortal, so I think you'll love it!

I've been slowly reading Folk of the Air! I love it so much. I've been wanting to read Holly Black for a while because of you and then I went into the sweet used book shop down the street and the owner is a near stalker level fan of Holly Black. She doesn't even have any of her books in the shop and yet she talked me into this trilogy? series? I'm more than halfway through The Queen of Nothing and I'm kind of sad about it. I've comforted myself by buying the Tower of Dawn, which is the next book in the SJM Throne of Glass series for me. I hope I still like it after reading Holly. The number of books I'm reading isn't high and I'm not going to reach my Goodreads goal at all but I'm having a great time!

If you like 'Interview with the Vampire' then maybe you'll like 'Empire of the Vampire' by Jay Kristoff. The main character is a half-vampire named Gabriel and he's being interviewed in prison. He tells his life story: from being in a half-vampire brotherhood thing that serves to kill full-blooded vampires to falling in love and finding family. It's long and slow but I enjoyed it. The vampire lore and different types of vampires was super interesting!

I really enjoyed finishing The Naturals series and did not really vibe with Skyward because I felt like it was dragging on to much other then that I had a good reading month. November I have no idea how I am reading all the books I want to read considering two pre-orders (Iron Flame and Powerless) plus my current tbr which is Clockwork Princess, Belladonna, and two Yona of the Dawn mangas.

I myself thought it was me because ...I'm not really in the fantasy genre yet but I thought a study and drowning was really lackluster it just didn't do anything for me I hope I have a different view on another good fantasy that I'm going to try out hopefully before 2024 lol
