Brandon, you should check out Keenan's vid 'Krab Guard'. I think the position would give you new options for your Octopus stuff.

so do you use the one handed arm triangle? I am a 46 kg 14 year old and i cant finish the standard two handed arm triangle but it works for me one handed (choked a 95 kg guy with it) could you make a video about how you do it, some tips and tricks about it and how you usually get to that submission? Btw if you are not sure how much 46 kgs is, its less than any female fighter ive ever met and ive met many. My length is 164cm which i think is about 5 ft 3 or 4 i think?

You’re most likely having trouble because you’re actually squeezing. This is incorrect technique. We as instructors say “squeeze” so that students know to initiate and apply the necessary pressure. However, the truth is that “squeeze” is a misnomer that makes things unclear. Chokes work because the pressure never gets released it’s consistent, constant pressure until the adversary submits or goes to sleep. Triangles in particular work because everything is forced together and there is no space for the blood to move within the arteries not because you’re smashing everything together, but the choking mechanisms are stuck in place. On any choke just apply the initial pressure and wait, the person should have tapped or gone unconscious by the time you count to 6 generally speaking, If not then readjust your positioning or grip. Remember, triangles are bringing everything together that’s why Brandon walked towards the head when he was finishing the arm triangle from the mount transition after he landed on top it’s also why his partner walked toward him when demonstrating how to finish the darce from your side. Sometimes you need an angle to make sure your body is in the proper position to keep everything together. When apply a choke just apply the initial pressure and keep it. After that first application you don’t need your muscles to exert anymore energy just wait. You’ll know your choke is correct because your partner’s breathing will change, so just listen. I hope this helps.
