I remember one time I was playing echo and I hit my wall so hard it left a dent in the wall but nothing happened to the controller, but I accidentally drop the controller onto my carpeted floor and suddenly it breaks in half

For anyone with a crack that is not on a seam who might want to glue, before you do you can check the location of your infrared spot lights on the ring (so you can avoid gluing over them and interfering with tracking). Most smart phones can pick them up by using the front-facing selfie camera, and some can pick it up with the regular rear-facing camera too.

I’ve had my quest for not even 3 weeks and I think I’ve broken it along one of those seams you pointed out. I’ve contacted oculus and I’m waiting to see how they respond Edit: about a week after reporting it, I’m getting a new controller shipped out for free Edit: it’s been over a month and I’ve only just been able to ship it out to them. The process is long but it’ll be worth it Edit: it was delivered within a week and it works perfectly

Glad I found this video. Oculus response was: "Typically this type of damage is not covered under warranty, but I have been approved to make a one-time-exception. Please be aware we will be unable to make this exception in the future." But I guess it doesn't matter what they said, they did replace it.

Smacked my CV1 controllers really hard a bunch of times.Always took it like a champ. Now I have retired it in favor of Link (as of today), we shall see about durability. Great that Oculus does recognise when it is a defect and replace without question. Apple, take note.

My left controller cracked along the top seam shortly after getting it. Oculus wont replace it and I cant return it because it's one week outside of the return/replacement window.

Hi I have the rift my son's like playing these sword fighting games there is no break in the handsets but wen you try to walk the game play it just keeps gong in circles have uninstaller and done a restal but it is still the same the set-up identifies the handsets but no luck is this a fault that Oculus can help with.

Hi! thanks for your videos! I need you expertise and help! I just bought a quest and suddenly one of my controllers stop working. Is not broken or anything is just that the battery is not going through. I saw some sulfate on the ring, but the battery was completely ok. Same brand and time that on the left controller. Hey I know this might be a bit off the subject but yesterday I updated my RTX 1070 driver with success. Then when I went in to the pc oculus app to start link, it said I had to update my quest at the top of the page. Then I went to update on the quest headset and there's no update available to select in the setting/about. So no updated quest and now I have no link. Anything you've heard of b4?

Ty,my bracket that holds top HMD strap broke and Oculus is replacing my whole kit! I had a controller seam break and they sent me a brand new one! The eye rings are fragile too.,..oculus sent me two new ones

Tyco Tech my quest controller like the battery cover came and doesnt fit snug so when u move the controller the battery shakes and makes the controller bang, should we send it back or get a replacement

I have a quest 2 and I dropped my controller playing beatsaber and it broke at the seam right to the left of the trigger (left controller) that ended up breaking a ribbon wire. Would that be a defect or did it hit the ground too hard. I also lost my battery cover but I can find that

There's actually another seam on the outer ring, directly in front of the trigger. One of my controllers has cracked there. It doesn't seem to effect the function of the controller so I haven't done anything about it. Also, when you try to push the crack back together there seems to be a lot of tension in the ring. That would explain why the weak points fracture so easily.

Both of my controllers have noticeable cracks on the same points he said (the seams closest to the buttons) and recently one of the cracks just snapped completely

My kid hit it against something and it cracked on one of the seems. I put it back together with some JB Weld and the tracking works intermittently but it goes crazy if I leave it idling.

I just woke up this morning to find my left touch controller had separated just above the trigger on the front. Opened a support ticket with pictures and have yet to hear back. Hope they can replace it or fix it. Definitely happened at the seam.

Oculus Rift S has the same controller and I got maybe 3-5 crack in the inner ring on both controller and I never hit them to anything. The right controller is perfect, but the left controller vibration is reallllly loud (kinda kicking the last). I'm dissappointed cuz its only 4 months old and I use it maybe 4-5 hour in a week so its not overused...

I punched my tv and scratched it too. I blame it on the Super Hot game, because each time I fail and a level resets, it resets in a different location. Sometimes right at the edge of my Quest guardian boundary. It should never start there. It should always start at the center of the boundary. That is a serious flaw with that game.

My oculus guardian randomly lost tracking and I was walking fast and now there is a giant crack in one of them do you know if that’s oculus fault for the guardian or my fault for hitting the wall I had a guardian in a safe area so I shouldn’t crash in to walls but it randomly lost tracking

Hey man, love the videos. Last night I cracked the ring in the middle seam (straight down the oculus logo). I was gonna return but this isnt really an ideal time to send it back into anyone. If it hasn't affected my tracking at all is it still safe to use the controller? I don't wanna be VRless the rest of the Quarantine lol
