This was a peak era for music, and it was when you could go down to Fairfax and run into anyone from OFWGKTA, they’d always be kicking it at the supreme store or later on the golf store. Such a picture perfect time in my life, felt like a shift in music and culture with social media beginning to get big, a lot of groups like TDE ,A$AP mob, Mac miller, Good music, J Cole, drake. Having so many cool mixtapes to listen to on datpiff. So special! And this song along with Tyler’s world building is timeless and classic

This song/video meant so much to me back in the day. When I found this song, I was getting ready to begin the 8th grade. My mom had just moved us to Arizona, so all of my friends were 1,500 miles away. In those times, whenever I felt lonely, this song would always lift my mood up. I was so enamored by this group of friends and, as cheesy as it sounds, almost felt like they were my friends too. Nearly 10 years later, I still get that warm feeling.

Watching this video is instant nostalgia for me, and it’s quite bittersweet. The friends I listened to OF with have mostly all parted ways but I appreciate the music cementing the memory of all us vibing and going crazy with this stuff as our soundtrack. I remember having a group of homies at a house party all getting assigned a verse from this and all of us almost flawlessly spitting it with almost the whole party surrounding us (besides Earl’s verse, felt bad for the guy who got assigned that) and having the times of our lives. Damn, the hype surrounding this album was unbelievable. Earl had just returned after being missing for years, Loiter Squad was set to air in a week, Tyler came out of nowhere to win a VMA (Over Wiz Khalifa who was at the height of his career) and Frank's career was blowing up independent of Odd Future. Sadly, after this the group sort of went their own ways and while I've really liked Tyler, Earl, and Frank's solo work since, I'd give anything to be able to go back to this moment in Hip Hop history.
