Can we take a minute to acknowledge the message in this?? Toasty's "second" dad was "abusive", if you can put it that way, and only cared about perfect toast, due to his parents constantly running experiments on him. And James actually cared about toasty, but due to them constantly fighting, toasty got mad to the point of causing destruction. And instead of calming down toasty when he fails, for example, when he accidentally got flung into the water, and killed the fish on accident, the parents fought instead of trying to keep toasty happy, as based on his face when it happens, he obviously was sad he killed all those fish. This happens in real life all the time. Parents fighting, and the kids get depressed or mad.

I laughed so long at the Toasty bath scene, just how Jame's came out burnt with a dead serious, 'Toasty hated his bath' 😂

This show is surprisingly dark, a man died, one lost his leg, the whole backstory for Max (and him actually being injured/bleeding), and I'm sure there's more examples in other episodes.

The alligator's reaction to the burnt toast is PERFECT 2:00 PS I also like how it takes place in Arizona Since that's where he grew up Amazing job Odd1sout! Keep up the good work

I love how Toasty’s last act before dying to give his father a proper toast, really wholesome as I expected him to be more scornful.

Dude, the crocodile had more backstory and character devopment in one episode than other characters in a whole show!

This is awesome in all the ways. A lesson on working together, how to put together a good parenting style and the effects of different situations on children. And humor. Beautiful first episode.

This was a surprisingly nuance way to handle the "Characters look after a baby" plot. I love that Toasty is not a monster since the beginning, James and Max made him one, and that makes the character a lot more interesting and easy to get invested in! Great writing! Also charming drawing style and animation! I'm already binge-watching the show on Netflix!

I hope we see a second season! I just watched this at Netflix yesterday & it was pretty funny K I enjoyed it.

This was a really well done too harsh, too gentle parent situation with both characters representing an extreme version of two types of parents.

Such a profound episode. Telling how overbearing and emotionally distant parents can negatively affect a child.

This is a really solid episode. I like that the conflict of Max treating Toasty as an experiment rather than an actual child of his own as that how he was treated. And it’s not just him being dumb for the hell of it

This episode hit me straight in the heart for sure, especially Max's backstory. Something about him treating toastie the way he was treated when he was "born" just hurts, then toastie becoming "the bad guy" makes this realistic. This was definitely one of my favorite episodes for sure!

To be honest I'm really excited for season 2. season 1 was well put together and the last episode left us on a nerve-racking cliffhanger

I love it that Max was being a non loving parent not because of the emotional problems that came with his past, but because he actually thought that how he was treated was what your supposed to do as a parent and so he still is acting for what he feels was best for toasty.

i love how this shows how dangerous each parenting style can be, and that to be a successful parent you need to incorporate both of these styles in a family

I have to be honest, I only knew about James when watching this series, and when Haminations actually mentioned about him, and when I realised the similarities, I had my jaw dropped. And because this comment is 10 months from this post, I can tell you I love all the episodes and similarities with some of James stories in KZfaq inside these episodes. I really hope you guys make a third season, because I actually love to see how the future's like in it, since James in the series changed the future. TheOdd1sOut if you're reading this I can say that you are very hardworking in this cartoon series and one of the most successful KZfaqrs that I adore.

this was perfectly balanced amount of concerning, funny, wired and real stuff contained in a 16 minute episode. I've never seen anything like this before like what lmao
