The Imperial Japanese Land Navy is BACK with the Ka-Chi. The Ka-Chi is a Rank 1 Premium Event Vehicle that's available to unlock FOR FREE in the new Operation Summer event happening RIGHT NOW in War Thunder.
The Ka-Chi in War Thunder is probably the most fun tank in War Thunder right now. It's derpy but effective. DBU (Derpy but Useable)
The 45mm gun hits pretty hard and it's shoulder stabilised. The armour is REALLY effective for its low BR at 1.7! The tanks mobility is great if a little bit slow up hills... but more importantly...
THE KA-CHI CAN SWIM! That's right, you can add Pontoons to the outside giving it the ability to swim around in water. I don't know why you would want to take them off other than to look like a cursed Thomas the Tank meme... but the option is there!
Overall, the Ka-Chi is a HUGE success. I love it so much!

Well, he drove away taking a strong point protecting both the blue spawn & the main red approach to the cap where the youngling T26 was fighting. So it was protective abandonment. The T26 also won his first struggle & needed no help from a boat.

Bo-time gaming showed that the front and rear "pontoons" are impervious to HEAT effects, allegedly, even the Ferdinand can't hurt the front/rear add on floatie bits. That's fair enough as "spaced armour" with one or two hits, but the game doesn't apply any actual damage to the "pontoons" integrity, so it stays impervious for ever. But the fun factor is just awesome

They probably don't apply damage to the pontoons so people can't shoot them off when you take it on a pleasure cruise in its natural habitat...which, honestly, would be freaking hilarious.

@@hughmanatee4854 Yeah, possibly, but I doubt they think that way. They don't seem to care about all the other myriad problems and bugs people report about armour/penetration mechanics, why would they bother protecting the occasional water antics of just this one vehicle? (oh wait... Gaijin... carry on) It's more likely an oversight, or discrepancy related to the current over-pressure/volumetric situation. The hits I describe don't even show entry holes, and there's no sign of HE or HEAT actually detonating inside the pontoon "void--space", but 30mm HE applied to a cupola hatch can take out the entire crew of an MBT.......

The things were just strapped to the deck of the submarine and it just dived with it on top The inner chasis is a round pressure hull cilinder (you can clearly see the back of it on the rear when the pintoons are off) so the chassis has two armour layers, the outer one and thr inner pressure hull, so extra spaced armor Now this thing is based on the chi-he and people think is big, si wait until they discover that the japabese made an even bigger amphibious tank based on the chi-to/chi-ri chassis [Type 5 To-Ku]

15:48 I believe the reason for this is the fact that you're maintaining a higher average engine RPM while tapping rather than holding the steering brakes (I don't know the technical nomenclature); Like how most Russian tanks prefer to steer in a staggered motion while they're moving, allowing the engine to rev up for a half-second then holding steering brake for one or two seconds.

Anyone of an older vintage in the audience remember playing with masters of the universe toys? Yeah, He-Man n all that. Well as a kid I was given an MoU "Landshark" vehicle for a bday. It looked just like this except the front was a huge pink (IIRC) shark head that chomped as it drove along. This "marvellous" creation of the Rising Sun Empire gives off massive Landshark vibes! Love yer work as always, Odd!

Dude! You can bring this tank into top tier and use it as deployable cover. I imagine when it dies, the sponsons.. sponsoons.. you know... Transform into 10,000-fold Nippon Steel, and it will eat shells. Could be nice to protect the spawn in bad maps

TBH, this tank is actual bully machine, even without the boat part, I got my hands on it because I was watching WT official twitch, they gave a test drive, got 8 kills with the land configuration, the boat is just extra armored good vehicle so yeah, pretty dope. Also, you can cosplay it as Thomas the tank engine so it's fun

One of these was spawn camping our side a week ago in low tier. I shot it 3-4 times in the front with US low tier cannons from under 200m and literally did nothing. One bounced off the turret, the rest completely disappeared into the front pontoon in different places without component OR crew damage of any kind. I think the damage model is really broken on its front hull.

@@magnum6763 ooh that too. The ka-mi also wasn't stable on "open waters" so the rocking around of waves often slooowly drowned the crew and engine if you didn't acelerated enough. So it only worked smoothly on calm waters like poland river and the kuban and European privince lake. I play tested all amphibious tanks i had in naval maps for a custom event. Half of them weren't capable of island hoping without drowning midway.
