These are the Stihl power rotary scissors but if you are interested in these, I encourage you to look at the idech power rotary scissors from Seago International - a bit cheaper.
These power rotary scissors are oddly satisfying to use and super handy for keeping grass around edges nice and short. This comes in handy when reel mowing because if you keep up with your edging very short unlike me (yes I know, I scalped it) you can have reel low grass all the way up to the fence.

The grasses include the "grass" of the family Poaceae. This family is also called Gramineae. The family also include some of the sedges (Cyperaceae) and the rushes (Juncaceae).[1] These three families are not closely related but all of them belong to clades in the order Poales. They are similar adaptations to a common life-style. The true grasses include cereals, bamboo and the grasses of lawns (turf) and grassland. Uses for graminoids include food (as grain, sprouted grain, shoots or rhizomes), drink (beer, whisky), pasture for livestock, thatching thatch, paper, fuel, clothing, insulation, construction, sports turf, basket weaving and many others. Many grasses are short, but some grasses can grow very tall. Bamboo is a grass that grows very tall. Plants from the grass family can grow in many places and make grasslands. They can also be found in areas that are very cold or very dry. There are several other plants that look similar but are not members of the grass family. They may also be called grass. These plants include rushes, reeds, papyrus and water chestnut. Seagrass is a monocot in the order Alismatales. Grasses are an important food for many animals, such as deer, buffalo, cattle, mice, grasshoppers, caterpillars and many other grazers. Unlike other plants, grasses grow from the bottom, so when animals eat grass they usually do not destroy the part that grows.[2] This is a part of why the plants are successful. Without grass, soil may wash away into rivers (erosion).

Grass is one of the most ubiquitous and familiar plants on Earth. It is a member of the Poaceae family and includes over 10,000 different species, making it one of the largest plant families. From the vast, sprawling fields of wheat that dominate the Midwest to the small, delicate blades of grass that cover a suburban lawn, grass is a vital part of the natural world. Grass is an incredibly hardy plant, able to grow in a wide variety of conditions. It can thrive in the hot, dry deserts of the American Southwest, as well as the cold, wet climates of the Arctic. Its adaptability and resilience have made it a favorite of farmers and gardeners alike, who have used it for everything from food to medicine. One of the most striking features of grass is its ability to sway and rustle in the wind. This movement is caused by the way grass blades are attached to the plant's stem. Each blade is attached at a joint called a node, which allows it to move independently of the rest of the plant. When the wind blows, the blades can bend and sway, creating a mesmerizing and soothing sound. Another feature of grass is its role in the ecosystem. Grass is a primary food source for many herbivores, including cattle, sheep, and deer. It also helps to stabilize soil and prevent erosion, making it an important component of many land restoration projects. In addition, grass plays a critical role in the carbon cycle, sequestering carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and storing it in the soil. Grass has also played an important cultural and symbolic role throughout human history. It has been used as a symbol of fertility and renewal in many cultures, and has been incorporated into traditional medicine and religious practices around the world. In conclusion, grass is a fascinating and multifaceted plant that has played an important role in human history and continues to be a vital component of the natural world. Its adaptability, resilience, and beauty make it a beloved and iconic feature of landscapes everywhere. Source: www.britannica.com/plant/grass-plant

Grass is a type of plant with narrow leaves growing from the base. Their appearance as a common plant was in the mid-Cretaceous period. There are 12,000 species now.[3] A common kind of grass is used to cover the ground in places such as lawns and parks. Grass is usually the color green. That is because they are wind-pollinated rather than insect-pollinated, so they do not have to attract insects. Green is the best colour for photosynthesis.Grasslands such as savannah and prairie where grasses are dominant cover 40.5% of the land area of the Earth, except Greenland and Antarctica.[4] Grasses are monocotyledon herbaceous plants. They include the "grass" of the family Poaceae, which are called grass by ordinary people. This family is also called the Gramineae, and includes some of the sedges (Cyperaceae) and the rushes (Juncaceae).[5] These three families are not very closely related, though all of them belong to clades in the order Poales. They are similar adaptations to a similar life-style. With about 780 genera and about 12,000 species,[3] the Poaceae is the fifth-largest plant family. Only the Asteraceae, Orchidaceae, Fabaceae and Rubiaceae have more species.[6] The true grasses include cereals, bamboo and the grasses of lawns (turf) and grassland. Uses for graminoids include food (as grain, shoots or rhizomes), drink (beer, whisky), pasture for livestock, thatch, paper, fuel, clothing, insulation, construction, sports turf, basket weaving and many others. Many grasses are short, but some grasses can grow tall, such as bamboo.Plants from the grass family can grow in many places and make grasslands, including areas which are very arid or cold. There are several other plants that look similar to grass and are referred to as such, but are not members of the grass family. These plants include rushes, reeds, papyrus and water chestnut. Seagrass is a monocot in the order Alismatales. Grasses are an important food for many animals, such as deer, buffalo, cattle, mice, grasshoppers, caterpillars and many other grazers. Unlike other plants, grasses grow from the bottom, so when animals eat grass they usually do not destroy the part that grows.[7] This is part of the reason why the plants are so successful. Without grass, more soil might wash away into rivers (erosion).

I started my first job at 15 years old doing professional landscaping for a company in the capital city of my state. We did some of the biggest fanciest most expensive buildings in "uptown" of the city, and we did EVERYTHING with a string trimmer. of course we used commercial mowers for the bulk grass cutting, but anything and everything edging trimming sculpting related, was done with shindaiwa commercial string trimmers. I remember thinking over the years as all the other edging products came out, what a ridiculous they were because every single one of those tasks can be done with nothing but a string trimmer if you know what you're doing.

Redmax calls it the reciprocator ( they developed it first. Have had it out for years. That attachment is like ..$500, and you still have to get the power head.. $300 at the least… Best thing to do is to get an old weedeater, that still runs good…. Find a straight shaft weedeater, then order the Stens unit off of eBay… just take the trimmer gearbox off, and bolt on the stens cutting unit. It’s way cheaper going that route

I wouldn’t use it alone g the fence but trimming the driveway & walkways would be nice. I agree replacing the blade would cost more than the line. 🥰

Ppl dnt realize these pro companies don't use wire cause thy waist to much time changing wire or it breaks w e so they use saw blades made to cut big bsh areas

So the reason you use this instead is because a weed walker flings it everywhere and using always accurate but is almost like a tiny lawn mower blade it helps get a cleaner cut it’s more accurate and it allows you to trim areas that a lawn mower can’t get and not have it look bumpy so if you have the money I would recommend it

Clearly a great edger when the overgrowth isn’t too thick. You can scalp your lawn very easily when using is horizontally, it needs some sort of depth spacer.

It has a depth spacer. Grass was just too tall. Have to stay on top of it like mowing

There's a number they give you with the purchase. You call them, leave the sign and the money in the garage/shed. Or, just under the porch. Then, at some point in the near future you'll walk outside to a freshly installed sign. Rumor has it the number just calls the tooth fairies burner number though. So, maybe the tooth fairy in a little green on the side, maybe it's the stork. Which would explain why you have to wait. I guess he just waits until there's a delivery in the area. I have however also heard, that there's actually 2 people they send out. One does the beautiful perfectly installed sign while the other one "don't need this God damned job", they just gotta get they PO off they back.
