ODOMETER NOT WORKING ON YOUR BMW E30? (Garagistic Repair Gears)

Today I took apart the instrument cluster on my 1991 BMW e30 325i, took it out of the car and fixed the odometer gears that were broken. Because of this, the odometer wasn't spinning and I wasn't able to track my miles. I used the Garagistic VDO odemeter gears to switch out all the old gears to new ones and now the cluster I working 10 times better. I also went ahead and replaced the instrument cluster bulbs to new bright white LED's for better visibility.

great video! It worked for a day and stopped again. I took it apart and I striped some speaker wire. I used the plastic wire cover as a bushing on both rods on the gears to make a tight fit with the plastic cover it works great now.

Much thanks saved my ass. Difficult get out of dash. Good tip on the copper bushing. It’s important to line up metal rods carefully that the gears ride on.from the looks it this job had been done before as screws were missing.

No problem! Yeah looks like the previous owner did something similar to replace some of the rear dash lights but never put them back in

What size LEDs are those? How many did you end up needing. Thanks for the vid. Can’t wait to fix our gauge cluster :)

Hey! I think I went with 12 and switched everything over to the LED. The main backlight I got some autozone.
