I installed wheel well liners Ford from the Ford dealer on my 2012 F-150. They make the truck look so much better than the unfinished look of the painted wheel well. They also hide the air gap between the frame and the bed bottom. Great video of what Ford should be installing from the factory.

Thanks Jerry. I totally agree. It's hard to see that because my truck and the frame are both black. But if the truck is a different color, lets say red.... you can see the red of the truck bed inside the wheel well where it sits on the black frame. The Liners hide that and create a totally blacked out cleaner look behind the tire. Not sure why it's not standard on the truck from the factory.

Great vid. In case anyone watching this has a 2021, you'll see that the hole arrangement is the same as the 2020 - 3 oval holes and 3 round holes per side. HOWEVER, you will only be using 2 metal clips and screws per side, NOT 3 like the 2020. The middle oval hole will be filled with a 4th plastic push pin instead of a metal fastener. Not sure why, but that's the way it is.

So I got these today from my local Ford dealer and figured it would be real easy to install, then I looked at the directions that came with them.... totally confusing and I could not understand half of it. Your video is great and made it easy. Thanks for the help. I REALLY appreciate it.

Thanks for the video! just install these on the 2021 f150. Slight difference four push pins and 2 7 mm bolts takes 5 minutes to install. The top bracket now uses a push pin. Make sure you have a 7mm socket and ratchet.

Great video. However I made the mistake of putting mud flaps on a week before installing. Made the rear screw a pain in the a** to install.

You will just need to bend the rear of the liner over the bolt that mounts the mud flap to the fender.. It a little more effort but totally doable. Just make sure you put the rear of the liner in first then the front.

Does the liner need to be tucked into the space between the plastic and metal on the wheel well? Or can it just be tucked under the metal and then fastened??

@@BanginGearsGarage On the side facing the outside of the vehicle... You know how there is the plastic fender on the outside (wraps around to the underside), and that plastic meets metal on the underside... It seems like it's possible to slide the liner in between that space (between the metal and the plastic fender) to help keep it in place... Is that what should be done, or does the liner just need to fit on the inside of the metal?

@@marcusochoa6735 Gotcha, It you are standing along side on the truck and reach into the wheel well there is a 2-3 inch lip at the top edge. The Liner will rest there, on that lip, it does not need to be side in-between the plastic trim and the aluminum fender. the lips will hold it up and the screws hold it in place. Hope that answers your question.

Good question. 1 they would interfere with air flow around the motor. And 2 there is just too many moving parts and would interfere with the front suspension and steering components.

No they are only made for the back..... honestly I don't know of anyone who makes them for the front wheels

Honestly, they are just as good. Just some Ford guys, like myself just like to stick with Ford products when we can. But the Husky Liners are just as comprable ...and at half the price, do what you are comfortable with. Whichever you choose the liners are great MOD. Especially if your truck is not black.... it hides the color difference between the bed and the frame and adds to the overall anesthetics of the truck by completely blacking out the wheel wells beyond the added protection it adds to the under side of the truck. Hope this helps.

@@BanginGearsGarage thank you for this Ya I’m getting the carbonized gray 2021 FX4 model and would hate how that looks without the liners. The Ford ones do have better support of the liner with the clips stiffness and the extra plugs. So thank you will just have to decide in a month

No the rim are black from the factory... its part of Fords Balck Package.... even the Ford logo is black instead of blue.

There are a few....1) The make the wheel well easier to clean, Harsh winters or off roading, dirt, and salt get everywhere and the lines help protect all the suspension and frame components 2) My truck is a bad example but if the truck was red in color you would see the red on the truck bed in the wheel well where the truck bed sits on the frame. The wheel liners hide this, creating a complete black wheel well that enhances the overall look of the truck. Hope this helps.
