To let you know. The City of Carcer is a reference to the location the game "Manhunt" which was also released by Rockstar. Some GTA games even reference the City of Carcer, including the fact that it's nearby Liberty City.

The movie poster "Top Down City" could be a reference to the original GTA games, as they were played from a top down perspective. Or am I looking to deep into that one? Edit: can be found at around 10:41 in the vid.

Dang it man, release the tools. I've no real issue finding a cam for PC games as it's fairly easy but man you could at least release the cam for console game or for the little kiddies who i'm sure think what you do is unique. I remember when I was a kid I always hated how people showed off this kind of stuff but never made any mention or attempt to release/give a tutorial on how to get said cams. It always made me think you are really just selfish. Are you too scared that people will "steal" your "ideas"? Even though this series isn't unique.

The "CJD" references on the console are much more likely to be a reference to its artist, Campbell-John Dick. It's also the reason a large amount of props in the game are prefixed with "CJ".

9:30 I knew about this back in the ps2 days. if you used a cheat to spawn a jetpack whilst inside an interior, and flew upwards, you could get to 'interior land' and fly to different insides. Doors didn't work iirc so you'd have to go back to the room you came from. Also very surprised you didn't mention Liberty City where you could walk around outside of marcs bistro and that some of liberty city was loaded in.

This is often referred to as the Hidden Interiors Universe, or heaven. The most well known method of entering it is via the Ganton Gym by killing everyone there then using a jetpack to fly out. You could find unused and cutscene-only interiors, and through a more complicated process even reach Liberty City. I still find myself messing around with the interiors. Just yesterday I found a method to reach Ryder's house without mods. Basically requires the cars float when hit cheat and the flying boats cheat, finding a boat at the Los Santos ocean docks, hitting it with another vehicle, entering it, then flying towards the marker for Ryder's house in the sky. Reason you need a boat is because it gives you solid groud to stand on so you can enter the marker.

For some reason, even though basically everything is represented 1:1 on the in-game map, seeing the actual map from high up makes it feel a LOT smaller. I guess it's because you can actually see the height of everything, and also that an entire forest consists of like a dozen trees. Kind of unrelated but that's one thing I've always hated about Skyrim's 3D map as opposed to, for example, Oblivion's paper map. Oblivion is actually slightly larger but just the fact that it's not literally the map that you see but a drawing of it makes it feel so much more realistically proportioned.

Ah this brings me back to the modding days... Actually the "dev cubes" on the cars are more like "markers", included in every car model in the game. They shouldn't be visible obviously, but they are used as a marker for the game engine to know where the wheels connect, where the steering wheel connects, where the driver and passengers can sit, the location of the door hinges, and even the spot where the fuel port is (because when you shoot them in-game, the cars explode).
@grn1
@grn1 6 ай бұрын
Isn't that just what a dev cube is. From my understanding all dev cubes are basically markers used by the engine to make various things work.
@raedev
@raedev 6 ай бұрын
@@grn1 kinda yeah, but even beyond the different use (3d model coords vs running a script or player interaction) these are hardcoded into the vehicle models as just... Points. They only look like cubes cause that's what the game engine renders them as if you tell it to (and to be fair so did the modding tools we used back then for vehicle models). They aren't really cubes.
@grn1
@grn1 6 ай бұрын
@@raedev So a normal dev cube is coded as an object with a script or tied to a script while these were just part of the model with all the code being separate?
@raedev
@raedev 6 ай бұрын
@@grn1 prettu much, yeah, but also these aren't actual cubes. they're just points in 3D space (relative to the vehicle). whereas devcubes are (usually) an actual geometric cube. these just get * rendered * as cubes even if they are just a set of 3 coordinates

09:57 This is what I wanted to see ever sinds I first got the original game. Like many other's I found ways to clip out of interior area's and then jump/jetpack/fly around the void, only to find other rooms, while also falling down and ending up back on the exterior map. Same for when doing the brief visit to the location of the earlier game, where when you escape its bounds you can fall down back to the normal map (or if you know where its located, fly up on the normal exterior map, and eventually see a glimpse of that area before the game forces you back down due to reaching the flight height limit) I always wanted to see what it would look like when its loaded all at once.

You can also chase a clone of CJ after a cutscene as they drive away and then recruit them so they follow you around. You can also pull the disc out of the PS2 while the game is running for some crazy audio glitches, car horns sound like machine guns etc.

comparing the motion of the two food trays, they seem to be tied together, I would guess that during modelling, they either accidentally duplicated the tray or grouped a second tray to the model when exporting it to the game. I'm also almost certain the reason it stayed is it was never noticed, as I'm sure they would have certainly removed it for performance.

I’m sure this is what happened too, given how much unused code and cut content is left in most games, most of the time it’s a case of, if everything still works and there’s enough memory, best to leave it in there rather than take all the time to cut unused things and risk an animation or something suddenly going haywire. If not that, simply time constraints mean a lot of things get left in.

Who would have thought a KZfaq channel could be more than just content on a screen? Shesez has proven to be a masterpiece that transcends the boundaries of typical entertainment-it's a journey of connection, resilience, and pure joy. Last Christmas, my 14-year-old son stumbled upon this channel, and little did we know it would become a beacon of light during a tough battle with cancer. Watching the videos and exploring the channel became our escape, our sanctuary, and a source of strength. Navigating the content, initially, was filled with laughter and exploration, providing a much-needed break from the harsh realities of hospital visits. Shesez has become a symbol of resilience and shared strength during challenging times. To the creators, if you're reading this, thank you for curating content that has touched our hearts in ways words can't express. Your channel is not just a channel; it's a canvas for moments of connection, laughter, and tears of both joy and courage. Using the jetpack cheat in the grove street gym you can fly out the roof and fall to the surface and roam in the invisible "Ghost" city as it remains culled out, but the collision remains. Another fun fact is since you are in a non-combative indoor instance you wont take fall damage if you were to unequip the jetpack and fall to the ground. This game had its own little boundry breaks you coulld do on your own, and i love it.

There was a certain feel for it and running over peds were somehow allot more hilarious. Some of the cut scenes were framed in a way that was unintentionally super comical. Fun Fact about the Liberty City Airport area: you can actually access it during gameplay if you have a specific version of the game, by using the jetpack to fly out of bounds through the corner ceiling tiles in the gym near Grove Street. You have to follow a very specific path that involves flying blindly in a black void, to make sure that the streets of Liberty City actually load, but once they do you can even walk around a few parts of them (though most of it lacks collision)

The draw distance and especially the motion blur did a huge amount to make the game seem as big as it did back then, since it would look and feel like you were going a lot faster than you were, but actually not travelling much distance, so driving from LS to SF, even though it was just a few mins, would feel like an actual road trip. Flying too would feel like you were on the way somewhere for ages, and then you’d slowly see the shadowy tops of buildings in SF through the fog. As we saw when the “remastered” version came out and the draw distance and fog was all gone, everything was actually super close.

Loaded San Andreas up on my Steam Deck recently and remembered how much of a masterpiece the game is. Also, for anyone who wants to play along at home SA probably has the easiest Boundry Break in the world. Just grab a jet pack from the cheat in any interior and you can do your own zoom outs and check out the interior from any angle. It was my first out of bounds experience as a teenager.

I replayed this recently, the original, not the remaster and still as an adult am shocked at how they managed to make this game seem SO massive, like i assumed it was just my teenage brain thinking it was large (although it genuinely was bigger than anything else at the time) but playing it again and knowing how small itbis, it still feels absolutely massive, it fewls bigger than gta v!

one thing that early GTA games can teach is that mocap animation and Lip Sync especially can do a hell of a lot to make even the lowest poly graphics look good. this game came out when games like MGS2 was out, so the fact that the game still feels as high calibre as that game because of the lip sync and cutscene mocap performances....not to mention Samuel .L. Jackson and Chris Penn....is amazing.

So i used to glitch the game. If you took a tank and put in the flying cars, infinite air and indestructible vehicle cheats, then fly out as far as you can into the ocean and dive to as deep as you can. I would use the turret pointed backward to speed it up. At some point, the game would teleport you to the desert near the military base. I could get it to work in Vice City as well without cheats. I would take a boat and ram the corner of the map, and occasionally, it would teleport somewhere on the map.

GTA San Andreas really has the best designed map in the series for scale. It feels massive but that's because it is densely populated cities each seperated by countryside areas with winding roads and looping highways. And the draw distance is used to spectacular effect to not break the illusion even when you are flying in a plane or standing atop a mountain or skyscraper. This smaller open world giving the illusion of a bigger one is not only more practical for the developers because it is less resource intensive, but it is better for the player because the map is not only more densely packed with attention to detail, but it also takes less time for experienced players to get from point A to point B. Every time I'm playing a modern open world game and I have to travel the distance entire map of San Andreas to my next objective, through a city which looks almost identical in that same distance... Well let's just say it makes me long for the days that I would drive that combine harvester down an 80° incline to try and save the 3 minutes of time it would take to take the winding road. Honestly even the most driving heavy missions in San Andreas feel like something that would be commonplace nowadays. This comment has gone on to long to give specific examples so if anyone wants to give their thoughts I'll be happy to talk about what I mean.

When i started playing GTA SA in a Cyber cafe in 2006 or 05, i saw on internet that you could enter in forbidden interios through the Gym roof and so on.
