This is because many buyside firms don't fill all of their spots during the on-cycle and because of the high attrition in finance. Quick question, now that on-cycle PE recruiting has started, have I already missed the boat? I’m a senior in college and incoming FT IB analyst.

No. On-cycle recruiting is for people who have already graduated. They target people in IB, not students.

Hey Matt jus going off topic for a sec, What’s your opinion on Ontario’s Teaching Pension Plan? I have an interview for their PE arm and also credit funds team if you know anything about these two that would be great.

Idk about name recognition but they get great deal flow. Definitely a good place to be if you don’t care about resume flexing.

Solid firm. I don't know much about those groups specifically but they are one of the more respected pension plans and definitely one of the best options in Canada. I think most pensions tend to be more chill and you get paid a little bit less too, but generally seem like fair trade-offs.

The UK has 1 year MBA programs...that may be an option you can research on

I think most of the top U.S. programs are 2 years and can't be accelerated. I'm generally skeptical of accelerated MBA programs personally.

I think it's a bit firm dependent to give you concrete answers, but for associate recruiting I think both on-cycle and off-cycle are generally going to be without a bonus. I think this might be different as you get more senior.

Great channel but I would love to see more info on VC analysts. Everyone assumes you need to do IB before starting as an associate in VC. Plenty of analysts get hired out of school and/or from Investor Relations

I unfortunately don't run in the VC circle, so won't be able to comment much on it. I have seen a few funds like Insight hire out of school, but I think they tend to be sourcing roles. Haven't seen a lot of IR people go to VC honestly.

Die ganzen 5 Jahre hätte ich mir sparen können wie sich gestern herausgestellt hat. Ich meine, wer würde schon ein 6-stelliges Gehalt bei Google in London oder Oxford fuer 500 Euro im Monat tauschen wollen. Auch witzig. Eigentlich nicht.
