In this final segment of our off grid cabin in the Rocky Mountains, we finish the final step for the cabin! We complete on the porch railing, using 10ft long and 1/2 inch round steel rebar! Rick also installs pressure treated select 2x6 top handrails on the sides of the deck with two rungs of rebar evenly spaced underneath. On the front view edge of the deck we installed 3 rungs of rebar with no lumber top rail to maintain and maximize the view off of the deck of the pond, creek and cedar trees as well as wildlife. Rick uses and demonstrates how to cut rebar with a rebar cutting saw, drills holes in the 4x4 deck posts to run the rebar through and shows the carpentry needed to cut and install the pressure treated lumber top hand rails. Prior to installation we spray painted the rebar with black primer so it blends well against the cabin and woods landscape as well as preserving the rebar from rusting. Brittany also decorates the inside of the cabin and the deck and door for Christmas, setting up a 6 foot Christmas tree, door wreath, garland, Pottery Barn hack lit presents under the tree that Brittany made, and several other Christmas and holiday decorations. Thanks for joining us with this off grid life and cabin build.
