In Australia it's illegal to do electrical connections such as the one you showed in this video unless you're a qualified or certified electrician. Even more important if it connected to the Grid. Good work none-the-less friend

Hey Nathan, I have two ideas for future content: I'd be interested in seeing how long the backup power will last under average use once you have all the circuits wired in your shop, and I would also like to see your logic for which circuits you put on the Anker unit and about how much backup time you'd have when you install it in your house.

Nice to see this Nathan. I bought an F3800 through Anker's Kickstarter late last year and love it. I have an underpowered shop (currently garage, pole barn soon) and am using this for my woodworking hobby. I run my Onefinity CNC from it and it did great on one of the coldest days of the year (-8 F on 01/14/2024). Just with the CNC controller, X/Y/Z servos and a Makita palm router, I can get 12 hours runtime. I have a pair of 400W solar panels that I am building a rack for this weekend that will add even more runtime.

While I understand you need to make paid advertisements for sponsors, this is a ridiculous solution. If you need true back up power to run your operation, a small battery is the height of stupidity and you do your viewers a disservice by recommending it. If your ability to make a living requires enough power to run 240C high amp equipment you should have a sufficiently rated generator, running on propane, and a 1,000+ gallon propane tank. It should also have an automated transfer switch versus a person having to go outside during a severe storm. I speak from experience.

This really caught my attention. I need something that will power mainly my well pump, refrigerators and freezer when power goes out. Would be nice to power heat pump too, but I can manage without it (I think). I being wired in to switch over is really handy, instead of having to move the unit around to plug individual items into the unit. Looking forward to seeing how it works in your house. Keep advised.

Nice set-up. Another way to wire in an alternative source is to feed it into a 220 circuit next to or below the main breaker with a mechanical interlock that prevents the main breaker and alternative source breaker from both being turned on at the same time. This is the set-up we have in our house that allows us to power any circuit during an outage, within the limits of the alternative source.

Have you ever used a metal detector to check for the presence of metal. They will pick up metal as large as a BB. Iron is particularly easy to detect up to a foot or two within the log.

Looking at the #1s and #2s, across the bottom of the panel, I think every other breaker on the switch box is the A-leg and B-leg. The A/B is a 240 breaker and so is the C/D breaker. So the meters are reading all the #1s and all the #2s.

Morning Nathan, Good info on the "Off Grid Power System" Have thought about one mainly to keep well pump operating, I imagine well pump and Air Conditioner draws the most power starting up, will this system handle that? Missed seeing the Live Shows will you have them again. John Toccoa GA

Shouldn't the blue plug mount through the hole in the switch panel with the heads of the screws on the outside of the panel instead of having the screw ends facing you? That way the stress is on the blue plastic and not the screws. Nice summary video of the installation.

Great video, thank you! Can you help identify best solar panels to use with this unit besides the portable ones due to the limited 60V solar input? On some reviews I’ve seen they using the F3800 unit with 3 panels in parallel that are LG 365W each. 47.7VOC, 9.39Imp total of 28.17 amps potential using two 3 panel strings to connect of the F3800. Any thoughts if these will work and your panel recommendations?

yeah these things are cool, especially the Ecoflow Ultra, but in reality you need a gas, diesel, or propane generator for any long term needs...more than a day a two. Get a duel fuel, run it on propane, and you won't have the problem of gas sitting for a long time. Imagine, you buy a predator, Westinghouse, or champion 12500 duel fuel for 1500 max. Done. These power stations are just a shiny object. Good for Van Life, I own two Ecoflows, but they are not serious for home backup. unless you want to be cool, and have batteries and solar, sponsored. almost all of these are from people who are somehow benifiitng.

@OutoftheWoods0623 Nathan: Not arguing just to argue, but if all you needed was some light when the power went out, wouldn't a couple of LED headlamps dome the trick versus something costing thousands? The video made it seem like you were trying to accomplish much more. No need to reply -- perhaps I was confused as your videos are always very practical.
