It's all in persoective.. when i was in my 30s I went to a meeting of hikers and found that other than one child I was the youngest one there and some in their 70s doing 14 mile trail hikes.. So what's important is that if you have a good healthy family group. You have younger strength.. older patience and wisdom to help bandage cuts, smile at bickering instead of joining in, help with canning and someone to keep an eye at junior trying to dive from a tree with nobody around as the dad cuts firewood.. someone to calm the pot while others stir the pot.. And a voice of reason.. " you did stupid stuff but you made it, cause someone cared" Most youth dont want you nosing and finding drugs or that they are eating junk in their room... most kids don't sneak girls in their rooms like the movies would like you to believe, but are there to fulfill a youthful fantasy. When i was young it felt like all the "cool kids" smoked. But when i checked out the two areas that allowed it for a trial/test, only about 10 kids out of the 100s that went to the school went out to smoke. I got dragged out to bring up numbers and asked to hold a cigarette.. because headcount showed not that many really did smoke. A teacher walked up to me to tell me they were disappointed I was out there and I said i don't smoke and never will. I just wanted to see how many really come out here to smoke out of the whole student body. So don't be pressured to to bad things to be popular as the silent majority dont agree..

I really liked the main cabin best and I sent an email to hermitsway.com but said 20 acres... Should have said 13! Doesn't matter to me exactly how many, back home here I'm doing searches for anything above 2 acres! And that's in Jersey! For the love of Pete! I just need an escape and your place looks heavenly!

How neat! Small world indeed. Our cabin is right smack in the middle between Annapolis and Piedmont, 30 minutes each way. We do our grocery shopping in Piedmont. The Zephyr Cafe is our favorite! :-)

@@HermitsWayHomestead I know you can’t shop much in Annapolis, unless you go to the mini-mart or the fairly new dollar general. Lol. It’s such beautiful country there. All my good childhood memories are there at my grandparents. I grew up on black river and going to the bluff in the summers! Whomever buys your property is a very lucky person indeed!

The closest powerlines are over two miles away. No natural gas or water available for miles either. No zoning ordinances whatsoever. No inspections. Nothing. It is really anything goes out there. Totally freedom. I think rural Missouri might be the freest place in the entire U.S.

We've found that it's best not to put much urine in the bucket. It's much less heavy and messy without the urine. And the addition of a lot of urine sometimes will give off a little odor. This is no problem for Craig of course. I use a female funnel so I pee outside with the boys LOL.

No worries, I offset that by wearing whalebone corsets and I wash my hair with lye. Does that help? ;-)

We didn't explain this in the video but the full 34 acres was actually two different plots next to each other that we bought separately. We sold the second plot which was 20 acres and the guest cabin back to the brother of the guy we bought it from. Unfortunately it has been discontinued so there is no place to buy a new one. That is so disappointing because they are the most wonderful solar lights.

I'm so sorry... your suspicions are correct. Our property has already been sold. But keep looking! There are still lots of great deals to be found on land in Missouri. We have just purchased property for our new homestead in Blue Eye, MO which is near Branson in the Ozarks. Lots of good land out here as well. Missouri is the BEST state in the union for living off the land and homesteading.
