We go off-road and explore two mines in under 10 minutes! In this episode of Offroad Exploring we take The NotARubicon to the Gold Standard Mine and Brooklyn Mine near Joshua Tree National Park. In the video we show you exactly how to get to these old mines, how rough the road is and what you will find in the mines. GPS coordinates are also provided in the video.
To get to the Golden Standard and Brooklyn mines we took Old Dale Road in Joshua Tree National Park to the Brooklyn Mine Jeep trail, and follow it up into the wash, about 14 miles from Pinto Basin Road. After passing the Rose of Peru mine, we continue another half-mile to the Gold Standard Mine, then on to the Brooklyn Mine.
A vehicle with 4 wheel drive and high clearance is required to get to these places.
Note: We are not mine-exploring experts however we have been to both of these mines previously with guides that are very experienced mine-explorers so we are familiar with these mines. In general, exploring mines can be dangerous. Never enter an abandoned mine that you are not familiar with and never allow children or pets in or near abandoned mines.

That "scary hill" at Brooklyn Mine almost claimed my 4Runner er Toyota's 4Runner (press vehicle) when I had a tire slip / complete blow out of my tire. Wasn't fun having to change a tire at the top of the hill but at least I made it :) After watching your video though I sort of regret climbing on that "pink mud" and kicking stuff around. How no idea that was cyanide! :) Love your videos, would love to explore with you guys sometime.

Please consider making more Jeep adventure videos. I totally understand why you went the radio direction, but, I found you because of your "better than a Rubicon" content....And I own a Rubicon..HAHA! I would love to go out with you on a trail ride , as I am also in the Inland Empire. Based on your radio videos, I have a UV-5R +plus for monitoring and emergency use only. I expect my my GMRS license any day, and will buy what mobile unit you recommend.

Good stuff, thanks! I don't think I'd ever enter an old mine without having a tether to the outside world. It's crazy to think that the men that worked those mine no doubt knew them like the backs of their hands. Good call on the pressurized air lines. I wouldn't have guessed that. GodSpeed Randy! Thanks for the upload

I’ve been listening to your GMR ass videos. But I don’t know how I haven’t stumbled across these. I love these videos man it’s almost nostalgic for me since I grew up at the capital Camp claim in southern Nevada. I think you should get back to some adventure videos but with the humor and overall VoiceOver vibe and quality of your newer videos. I think that would be a hit.

Do you have to enter the park itself at one of the official entrances to get to old dale road and the mines?
@TheNotaRubicon
@TheNotaRubicon 5 жыл бұрын
You can enter via Cottonwood Springs off Interstate 10, Berdoo Canyon in Indio (the fun way!) or Old Dale Rd/Gold Crown Road off Hwy 62 in Twentynine Palms and not have to go through any gates or pay any fees.

We've thought about it. but these places are covered in old nails, beer-tabs, and other trash so it would be a challenge.. Many of the sites are also over 100 years old so I dont think we're allowed to take anything.. the ones INside Joshua Tree Park you can't take anything regardless of the age..

Can a full size F150 do this? 4x4 Lifted and proper M/T tires, I know it can handle the terrain just wondering if it would be too wide for some of the road at the end.

I have inputed the coordinates on Google map but they show at a different location compared to the map you show. I will be in the area in December and looking forward to this. Example, to make a left into the wash you have 34.018076, -115.676876, when entered this is above the location you show on map. Instead If I drop a pin at the left turn the coordinates are 34.018054, -115.676718 for the left turn into the wash. Could I be doing something wrong?
@TheNotaRubicon
@TheNotaRubicon 4 жыл бұрын
When I put both of the coordindates you've listed into Google Maps, they both come up within a few feet of each other - at the wash. you basically follow the road to the left, instead of straight up the hill.. even if you did follow the road straight up the hill, it meets back up with the wash at Rose of Peru Mine about 1/2 mile away.

Be careful if you camp in the open cabin with the flag on it make sure your tents are zipped up and all belongings are inside the mice from the cave behind it are rampant they will get into everything even if you string it up and hang it on the walls they climbed the walls and eat my bananas ha ha ha next time I’m bringing a BB gun!
