On May 16, 2024, at approximately 3:26 PM, officers from the Beloit Police Department responded to a 911 call from a female stating that she had received a message from her sister that said that her father had stabbed her and said “No one is leaving here alive”. When officers arrived at the residence, there was a man holding two knives standing at the front door. Officers were able to rescue the injured female from a window of the house. Law enforcement contacted a male subject and began giving him verbal commands. He did not listen to any of the commands and as a result of his actions an officer discharged a 40mm less lethal weapon that was ineffective. A second officer discharged their patrol rifle, striking the suspect, who was later pronounced deceased at the scene. The children in the residence were safely removed and there were no other injuries reported.
