Valencia CF officially presented Gary Neville as the club's new Head Coach through to June 30th, 2016, in an event held on Thursday afternoon at the VIP box at Mestalla. There was an extraordinary media presence for the unveiling, with 80 journalists from Spain and beyond attending the press conference. Amongst those accompanying Gary Neville on behalf of the club were VCF Chairwoman, Layhoon Chan, Directors Kim Koh and Chie Foo Chiang, Members of the Advisory Committee Juan Cruz Sol and Miguel Ángel Gil de Pareja, former players such as Ricardo Arias, Marketing Director Peter Draper, President of the Agrupació de Penyes, Blas Madrigal, and the President of the Valencia CF Footballers Association, Fernando Giner. Addressing the media and the fans, Neville said that "I am incredibly excited to be here. I understand and respect the huge responsibility that I have been given and have accepted. I understand, through playing in Valencia at this very stadium many years ago, the passion and intimidation of the fans. I want to try and harness and recreate that from the Valencia CF fans in the coming months through the Valencia CF players. I announce that the coaches that will be accompanying me will be Phillip my brother and Miguel Angel Ángulo, who is the coach of the Under-19s Academy team and a VCF legend. I am delighted to announce that he has accepted the invitation to become a coach. I spoke to many people in Valencia over the last few days, and the respect that he has from everybody is incredibly important. He is not just here as part of the coaching staff to satisfy the local people; he is here to become a very important part of the coaching and selection team for the coming matches over the next few months." Valencia CF Chairwoman, Layhoon Chan, had opened the presentation with a brief speech, stating that: "On behalf of Valencia Club de Fútbol, I would like to welcome many friends from media outlets all around the world. We have people here from Spain, France, Germany, Asia and the Middle East. Welcome to Mestalla. Thank you for joining us this afternoon for the official announcement of the appointment of our new Head Coach, Mr. Gary Neville.In my press conference on Monday I said that we were looking for a new coach that would be able to provide strong leadership for our team, give a fresh approach understand to our sporting plan and most importantly understand and value the engagement with our fans. Gary is an excellent coach who has exactly the qualities that VCF need at the moment. He is a leader, a great motivator and is hugely respected in football for his understanding of the game. His personal experience of success at the highest level will help inspire our players. Peter and I have known Gary for many years in both a personal and professional capacity, and we see something very special in him. This appointment is not about his nationality, it is not about his friendship with Peter. It is about Gary's qualities that make him our choice to lead Valencia at this critical time. I believe he will gain the loyalty and respect of our players, and coach the potential from them. I trust he is totally committed to Valencia at all levels."
