Band Maid is balanced, fun, catchy, and if you have the ears for it, progressive and musical. Their songs often require multiple listens to catch everything they put into what casual listeners think are simple, playful songs. You want to react to music videos? There are several specific songs that are actually best served by the music video release: “From Now On,” instrumental “Blooming,” one of their most magnificent bridges, chills guaranteed “Daydreaming,” their softer side, but still with one of Kanami’s best solos

Apparently, originally composed as an instrumental but Saiki thought it was such a fun song she asked Miku to write lyrics for it

It really is. At around 6:35 in your video, you can see the drummer, Akane, doing weird poses between drum hits, and making faces at the lead vocalist, Saiki, getting her to crack up a little while delivering her line. They do a lot of that kind of messing with each other during their most played songs. It makes every show special. Once you know they’re doing it, you’ll notice it all the time.

Another great reaction. Play! was originally composed as an instrumental track. Saiki loved the song and asked Miku to write lyrics so she could join in on the fun. Everyone gets to "play" and participate during this song, including the audience when performed live. Thanks for the positive comments. Looking forward to seeing more Band-Maid reactions. Cheers!

You want to see Akane smile even more? React to 'Freedom' from the same concert. She graces us all with an extended drum solo while smiling the whole time. A must see. A great music video which is sung all in English, is 'The Dragon Cries'. One of my favorites. A lot of people don't like it because the lyrics & images are such an indictment on the Human race, and can be a bit too unsettling for the faint hearted. It is no wonder that The Dragon (from Japanese Mythology) cries when he sees what we have become.

Great music is rare. But when you have great music and instrumentalists who know how to entertain and have great personalities. Well you can stop the music and replay it and replay it and it never gets tired. One of the greatest live bands and ten years of wonderful tracks to enjoy.

At this time Misa was using Orange, Miku EVH 5150, Kanami Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier. They have now gone digital Misa - Aguillar, Kanami - Bognar, Miku - Orange Pedal Baby. Don't know for sure why they changed but Miku had amp failures a couple of times on their 2022 US tour.

I think they were only using the Pedal Baby units in the US/overseas (Kanami used one, too, during the 2023 US tour) and for a couple of online performances. Miku seemed to be using her EVH head and Kanami had her Bogner at Yokohama. Not sure what they used for the other Japan shows but I assume the same. I think Kanami was looking into new amps for a little while and fell in love with the Bogner. Not sure what caused Misa to change. But, yeah, they almost certainly used the Pedal Baby units because Miku's rental EVHs have a habit of exploding--and also because they save money and time not having to rent heads while away from home. They can take their own PBs wherever they go. That setup sounded great.

They are so very tight because they practice to perfection and push each other to new heights all the time. Kanami, the lead guitarist, composes the majority of the music and then each member works out how they prefer to play their part within her parameters. Miku, the rhythm guitarist, vocal harmonies, founder of the band and ridiculously beautiful woman writes the always meaningful and clever lyrics. Before they tour, they spend a few weeks at Band Camp, living together and rehearsing a lot. But always while having fun and spreading more love, happiness and positivity.

From Japan I was watching the opening with a headset on and thought that BAND-MAID's official video, glory, might be good. glory is a song that became the ending theme for the TV manga Yu-Gi-Oh! glory is a very cool rock song.

Great reaction! I've always got to point out that the last note ringing out is what you hear at beginning of their song Domination (live), so there is only seconds between songs.

The amp you asked about behind Kanami in that shot was actually Miku's EVH 5150. She and Miku had switched sides of the stage at this point with Miku singing in Kanami's mic for the last half of the song. Kanami was playing through her Mesa-Boogie Triple Rectifier though last year she seems to have switched to a new Bogner head.

I LOVE PLAY TOO! Especially Miku (rhythm guitar/vocals) whose worked so hard and diligently to learn guitar since founding the band in 2013. She’s a bonafide rockstar now! I’m subbing to your channel because I’m glad to find other creatives and musicians who recognize good, well composed music when they hear it. I’m leaving a link to another of my absolute favorite bands on the planet that I think will make you happy as Hell. Nemophila are 5 lady smile machines from Japan who were individually musical monsters before coming together organically in 2019. Superstars, all of them, and they LOVE to jam and perform at such a high level. Two 7 string guitarists, 5 string bass, Drum Goddess/Sensei and a vocal powerhouse. I think you’ll adore them. If you liked that little bit of Call & Response during the Intro check out 'Don't You Tell ME' from the 10 Anniversary Tour Finale at Yokohama Arena for a "Battle". Her "Fangs" are what's known in Japan as Yaeba Teeth. They are considered cute, or kawaii and are often encouraged through dentistry as a sign of youthful natural beauty. Rhythm Guitarist Miku plays through an EVH 5150. Bassist MISA uses Orange Amps but when she can't get it as Backline she'll sometimes use an Agillar or Ampeg SVT. Lead guitarist Kanami after going through a number of different amps settled on a Mesa Boogie for the longest time, but recently switched to a Bugera. Hear them end that last chord? That's the one you hear right before they go into 'Domination' LIVE.
