this song means so much to me. i grew up listening to this. this is the sound of pure childhood for me. it reminds me of my dad, how he wanted to teach me so much and help me grow. he died of cancer when i was 7. after that, i didn’t hear this song again until i was 14. i was depressed, barely clinging to survival, and at one point nearly tried to end my life. when i listened to this song again, something in me changed. it didn’t cure me, but it gave me a reason to get better. i think i realized that there was a chance i could be happy with life again. im 18 now, an age i thought i would be gone by. i graduate high school in a month, and im attending my dream college in the fall. i still have such a long journey ahead of me. this song saved me. this music video is beautiful. this song is beautiful, life is beautiful. if you’re reading this, you’re beautiful. i know that because you’re alive. keep on breathing. its an honor and privilege to be alive with you all

We celebrated the life of our Matriarch my 100 year old mother-in-law today. Her son put together a video of her life using this amazing song. On the day Mom passed away, a double rainbow appeared in the sky and it had not even been raining. She left a legacy of faith and love. We love you, Nana!

This is why dogs never die: “Some of you, particularly those who think they have recently lost a dog to “death”, don’t really understand this. I’ve had no desire to explain, but I won’t be around forever and must for those out there to finally understand. Dogs never die. They don’t know how too. They get tired, very old and their bones hurt. Of course they don’t die. If they did they would not want to always go for a walk, even long after their old bones say “No, no not a good idea. Let’s not go for a walk.” Nope, dogs always want to go for a walk. They might get one step before their aging tendons collapse them into a heap on the floor but that’s what dogs do. They walk. You see, a walk with you is all there is. A walk with their best friend and the symphony of odor that the world is. Cat poop, another dog’s mark, a rotting chicken bone and you. That is what makes their world perfect and in a perfect world death as no place.  Dogs just get very, very sleepy. That is the thing you see. The don’t teach you that at the fancy university where they explain about quarks and economics. They know so much there that they forget that dogs never die. It is a shame really. Dogs have so much to offer and people just talk too much. When you think your dog has died, it has really just fallen asleep in the world and now lives in your heart. And by the way, it is wagging its tail madly, you see, and that is why your chest hurts so much and you cry all the time. Who would not cry with a happy dog wagging its tail in their chest? Ouch! Wap, wap, wap, wap, wap, that hurts. But they only wag because they are so happy to be so close to you. Whenever they wake up in your heart they wag their tail. After a few dog years, they sleep for longer periods of time and you will too. They were a GOOD DOG all their life and you both know it. It gets tiring being a good dog all the time, particularly when you get old and your bones hurt and you fall on your face and don’t want to go outside to pee when it is raining but they do because they are a good dog. So understand that after they have been sleeping in your heart, they will sleep longer and longer. But don’t get fooled. They are not “dead”. There is no such thing, really. They are sleeping in your heart and when they wake up, usually when you are not expecting it. It is just who they are. I feel sorry for people who don’t have dogs sleeping in their heart. They miss so much. Excuse me, I have to go cry now.”

He was such a loving humble amazing human being but could sing from his soul to touch yours... 2001 what was the first time I heard him sing this when I was driving to Nevada and then they used it in the TV show ER when one of the doctors died.... But the tribute is exactly what should be done a celebration of life.... Joy and happiness that he is still young and handsome and in good health and singing with the choir in heaven.... Selfishly a lot of us are sad that he left so soon way before his time.. thank you IZ... You continue to make moments of my life just so much sweeter.... I think of you quite often as I think of this song and I think I'm probably commented so many times since fb started..showing your light... Love you

After all the good this man did, just as I started to feel good about the world again, I made the mistake of reading the comment section. I want to have hope for the human race. But I'm not sure we've progressed so much since we started cooking our meat in a fire.

I agree that people can be rude assholes, but being overweight is not okay. It is also a product of this messed up society/civilization. I get that his body type is meant to be round and that most people have been influenced by society's media view of what a person should look like, and that being round is great. However, being healthy is important. I think it is clear that this man is unhealthy. That is the first thing people notice, because it is instinctively concerning to them.

cleanplasticchild Oh, okay. I guess while we're at it, being handicapped isn't okay, neither is being not white, or poor; because as we all know, being poor is a choice, right? I mean, afterall, it is my business what poor people buy so they can have a few nice things to escape the misery for a fleeting moment. Damn those people who don't fit into my cubiehole of expectations and personal preferences, they're all wrong! And it's our job to point it out to them! Wow, you know, everything about your life and circumstances has just now suddenly become my personal concern, and it's my god-given duty to tell you that you are not okay being you. You should change, because my concept of happiness is superior to yours. Your lifestyle offends me! Think of the children! Catching the BS? See, what you're doing is caring more about the shell than the man. You claim that people have been influenced by "society's media" that fat is in and cool when it's been, for nearly 3 centuries, exactly the opposite. You've been duped, "society's media" has spent the entirety of your life telling you what what is acceptable, what is desirable, and what is attractive. And you played right into their plan, you believed them. You've been sold by their pleasing words, and you've turned into their missionary, preaching the gospel of "normal" to all the world by word and deed. Stop it. If someone is a good person and treats people with respect, that's good enough for me. It isn't my place, or yours, to judge them for their circumstances, or as you would come to believe as "their personal choice of lifestyle." Stop it.
