And I think we’re getting mythical sea creatures too which means fictional sea creatures

Maybe the Umibozu, the Mermaid, the Hippocampus, the Aspidochelone, or the Honengyo. Don't forget aquatic cryptids but i wonder what would it be.

@@rogelioreyes79 Technically, the previous games used their legendary creatures to reference the mythical ones, and I imagine EO3 is going to do the same. Maybe use the new extinct creature selection for some of them. Maybe Mosasaur=Sea Serpent?

Good news cus I over-analysed this a few times (sorry if wrong though): Both seem confirmed to me. Whale shark scene and the scene with the large squid seem like aquarium shots and the rock lobster + clownfish shown seem like zooms (plus the seahorse shown in a character profile picture in-game heavily implies smaller species are present so zoom spots)

Oh, they wanted to do an entire area? I didn't know that but that would explain the three cameos we got instead. I always fantasized with the idea that, if one day they remastered EO2 for the switch or switch 2, they could possibly add a new prehistoric sea map full of these things.

I mean, it shouldn’t be that surprising. The originals were really good for Wii standards, and this seems to have simply refined and smoothed out the textures. I would say this is comparable with Mario Odyssey at least.

For the 3 fans out there ( including me ), it's an absolute win

Megalodon and Anomalocaris are already confirmed from the trailer, and I imagine Dunkleosteus, Basilosaurus, Helicoprion, and Cameroceras might make it in. I also think, for the reptiles, that another plesiosaur is guaranteed, and a pliosaur and an ichthyosaur could round out that list. Hopefully you can train an Ichthyosaur like a dolphin... I am curious to see what they choose, though.

@@TsalagiRailfan That's not the megalodon, that's more on par with the Thanatos in EO2, which was a relatively larger Great White. A Megalodon would actually be more whale-sized.

Blue World referenced the setting and events of the first game a couple times. Additionally, Oceana was a major part of the extinct animals stories in Blue World, so I imagine this game-with an increased focus on the extinct species-will at least reference some conservation effort L&L Diving Service started for them.

If Switch 2 has backwards compatibility with the current Switch, than I would say get Switch 2 when it comes out, and then get this game.

@@kanekighoulsnowincredibly, one channel that did a let’s play of blue world is still somewhat active (although their channel has different focus right now). What’s great about them is that they have the entire EO2 soundtrack on their channel, and a playlist of all of them. The videos are almost as old as the game. It’s only missing “The Prayer” from the soundtrack.

Blue World managed to combine a dive sim with a story-based RPG and actually work. That's what made it so special to us. And, I too noticed the more "open-World" story-less feel of EO1 in this trailer. But with that said, I bet you there WILL be a story. That is the only way they could incorporate extinct animals. In fact, it was the only way EO2 was able to even try it. There will at least be a storyline that explains that, I'm sure. But they also are making this because of the love that existed for EO2, so they are probably aware of the story and gameplay we would like in a sequel, and will probably have it somehow. Keep in mind, they said (I think) over 500 species are in this one, which beats the crap out of the previous title's numbers. The Switch is also more powerful than the Wii was, so I would expect a lot from this new title. First trailers can only show so much, and this one has certainly shown us some of the new parts.

Well, Abzu came way later than the first two Endless Ocean games, but yeah, you could say Abzu is the closest resemblance to the chill underwater exploration vibes EO evokes.

Probably not based on the history of this series. A shame because I’m kind of done with my switch. I’d rather play it on PC or steam deck.

Maybe the randomly generated map is for multiplayer, and a more linear story using the respective elements will be for single player.... I mean, how else would you be able to explain a living mosasaurus? And maybe the extinct creatures don't generate in the multiplayer unless everyone on that world has unlocked (or at least seen) that species in the single-player story mode? Considering how large Switch games are compared to Wii, this trailer is definitely not showing us much, so there is plenty of room for speculation.

@TsalagiRailfan i really hope you're right. The trailer show some temples and ships, im confused about how they can be randomly generated, these locations must have a unique map. My only doubt is about the fact that the sea of this new chapter is not a real place itw like the previous ones, so this can mean that they wanted to create a fantasy sea that changes everytime.

@@nicklock6288actually…most locations in the last 2 games are fictional, too. West Indian Manatees in the South Pacific…need I say more? EO2 went into more of a fantasy story, too. It’s possible that the single-player story mode will be less randomly generated, with important landmarks and locations always appearing in the same coordinates.

In-dev footage (which initial trailers usually use) tends to look worse than the final product, especially with Nintendo...

Also, they are definitely improved. I play Blue World at least twice every year, and the last time was in December/January. While playing it, I started looking closer at the creature models and animations/rigs, and I definitely noticed their age for the first time ever. Rigidity, improper rig reuse, pixely textures, blocky articulation, lots of things. For the Wii, they were beyond good, but now they are outdated. Everything I noticed was wrong in the Blue World cgi has been fixed in Luminous. Animation rigs are good and smooth, textures are not pixelated, the list goes on. With that said, it kind of does look more like they simply refined the original ones and polished them, as some things definitely look similar…but that’s honestly all that was needed. Blue World had some of the most realistic textures of any Wii game I can think of, and it wouldn’t have taken much to make them perfect.

The Endless Ocean property has always been Nintendo-exclusive. EO1 was on the Wii and only controlled with a single Wii remote (probably one of the best uses of Wii motion controls, and I have played a lot of Wii). EO2 (Blue World) was also only on the Wii, but added the Wii Classic Controller as an option. The 3rd party behind the series, Aurika, had a low-selling game on the GameCube from which several of the fish models in the first 2 games originated. Aurika and Endless Ocean are as much Nintendo as Hal Labs and Kirby.

That is an interesting thought, and considering how Nintendo has gotten better with their adjustable settings, this might happen. Maybe a difficulty or something, kind of like Minecraft. Peaceful turns off the mechanic, while anything higher increases their threat or aggression accordingly.

@@TsalagiRailfan under the excuse in game lore wise of experimental scuba diving equipment and i hope that the endless ocean aquarium make a return and legendary creatures can be put in it under the excuse in game lore wise of robots it would make more sense in real life like great white shark for example and make the end game a lot less grindy
