You finally hit a campground where we have been! Our son finished college in Chattanooga, so we are familiar with that region. Beautiful area all along Lookout, the Civil War memorials, Chickamauga Battlefield, Tennessee Valley RR, bunches of great eateries, museums, jazz joints, the Aquarium, etc. Cloudland is gorgeous.

Richard Givens we love that area! Almost took a job in Chattanooga after college. Great revitalized downtown and tons to do all around. Check our the Riverbend Music Festival in June. Fun times!!

We are debating West Rim vs East rim with young kids....for access to hiking which rim is best?

Thank you for the review of the campground..You mentioned that there are sites with a view of the canyon...are there canyon views in both the east and west rim or just the west?

The east rim has a site or two you can catch a glimpse of the canyon from a distance but it's a short walk for the real vistas. West rim has trails to that side as well. None of the sites are ON the canyon rims.I hope that makes sense.

You gave the scenery an "8" just because you were not on the canyon? The campground is gorgeous. The probably don't allow camping on the canyon to prevent fatalities from falling over the cliff. I've been there. Plenty of places at the edge where you can lose your life. Americans are always complaining. complain, complain, complain!!! booooooo!!!
