Gee real country by a real artist. Not pretty boys in cowboy hats, or some hey i can hit this note girl singer. Nashville can take it's Pop music formula they got now and lick it, stick it, and stuff it. This is country, real country, R.I.P. Buck, you are missed.

When Don Rich died, so did part of Buck. A sad end to one if the greatest Sounds in country music. 15 start #1 hits from 64-68 and never a Male vocalist of the year or an Entertainer OF the year from the CMA. . THE CRUDY MUSIC AHOLES

Arthur. I was fortunate to work for Buck Owens and his sons at his One-time Phoenix Country radio station. Buck did win Male Vocalist of the Year at the very first Academy of Country Music awards on the west coast in California in 1964-65. However, he never did win ANY awards from the Nashville based CMA or Country Music Association. Now, the reason for the non-wins might have something to do with Buck's attitude towards Nashville? The Music in Nashville was a RIVAL to the Bakersfield sound. The music industry was a little put-off with the success that Buck and even Merle Haggard had recording THEIR country music in Hollywood at the Capitol recording studios instead of Nashville studios. The music industry criticized the west coast musicians saying that ONLY A TRUE COUNTRY singer would record in Nashville and no where else. Buck gave it right back to the industry showing them he could be a star and record on the west coast. As the years went by things eased up a bit. Buck finally was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1996. He should have been inducted way earlier. Buck had lots of country music friends in Nashville but only later did the rivalry and hard feeling subside. I will say that Buck's band the BUCKAROO'S won Band of the Year for several years in the sixties from the CMA awards but BUCK NEVER WON A SINGLE AWARD from them. Buck was a rebel early on just like Waylon and Willie were about 10 years later. Buck helped revolutionize country music and I was proud to work for him and met him several times including at his CRYSTAL PALACE nightclub in Bakersfield several years before he died in 2006. I even went to his funeral in Bakersfield. You can search for the funeral as it is posted here on YOU TUBE.
