Lyrics:
Over my dead body
The stars will let you know
It's over
Now if I had my way
I would leave you here to waste your final days
Buried beneath
With the possibility of how things could be
Oh please rest assured this was not my fault
And time is getting short
So I'll be here if you want me
(Beaten and covered in a red so bloody)
Oh my darling can you hear?
My words so pure they burn your lying ears
And so the story goes
When I leave will you let me go?
When the words stop coming
And the fear starts setting in slow
Don't let me find you hiding under the covers
It's your last chance, oh you'd better
Call your mother
All our hope is lost down in the gutter
When you're in your bed
Sleeping toward the void
So deep it feels like death
Oh don't you wake wake
Oh my love, I hear life holds nothing for us beyond our time in here
Oh don't you dare turn your back on me
(No use running when the bad guy's coming)
Oh I think you've got me pegged as the wrong man
Oh I think you've got me pegged
And so the story goes
When I leave will you let me go?
When the words stop coming
And the fear starts setting in slow
Don't let me find you hiding under the covers
It's your last chance, oh you'd better
Call your mother
All our hope is lost down in the gutter
We were better together I know that much
Oh can't you see
Through the bad and the good we had all the luck
The devil's got nothing on us
You and me
Oh, baby over my dead body
Oh, baby over my dead body
Oh, baby over my dead body
We're still counting on you
We'll keep counting on you
Mother, come on out
Show me what the world is all about
We'll keep counting on you
Mother come on out
Show me what the world is all about
We'll keep fighting for you
We'll keep fighting for you
We'll keep fighting for you
We'll keep, we'll keep fighting
Oh I think you've got me pegged as the wrong man
Oh I think you've got me pegged
And so the story goes
When I leave will you let me go?
When the words stop coming
And the fear starts setting in slow
Don't let me find you hiding under the covers
It's your last chance, oh you'd better
Call your mother
All hope is lost down in the gutter

Finding out this song is not named after a metaphorical gutter, but instead a belt that literally guts the wearer with a giant corkscrew, is kinda wild.

@@user-dc9up2fh8i In the comics The Unheavenly Creatures are captured and placed on The Dark Sentencer which is a prison planet. The prison uses a belt that when activated drills into the gut of the wearer and disembowels them. It can be activated by remote or special sensors if they try to escape. This song is basically the original 2 Unheavenly Creatures, Creature(Nostrand) and Collossus(Otto Cruger), after being captured, finding out that Sister Spider(Nia), the third member of the unheavenly creatures, was not actually dead and is also on the dark sentencer. The song is conversations being had between Nia, Nostrand and Otto. Otto being the one that had killed Nia and blamed it on a guard but did not know that she had been found and revived by the HOSS to work for them.

These lyrics hit me way different. To me its been one month after a break up. I saw her fall into depression and drunkenness. Then one day she called it quits because "of being in the different places in life". I feel the song as last cry before truly letting go of love. It's where I am. I was good to her. But her past demons just won her over. It was a good 1.5 years. But I need to save myself. I've been a Coheed fan since good Apollo. They never disappoint

To be honest, I feel like this whole album has a LOT of IKSoSE build into it, and that's probably why I love it so much because that was my favorite album. I basically loved everything Coheed has put out (yes, even YotBR), but this right here just oozes that flavor they've been missing probably since the second half of Good Apollo.

Geez, these 3 new songs sound wayy more interesting than anything from their past 2-3 albums. I don't wanna jump to any conclusions, but it seems like this album will be comparable to Good Apollo Vol 1 with the grandiose feel in the songs we've received.

Michael Bell I wouldn't say Color Before the Sun felt "epic" at all. It was a nice album, but definitely didn't have any grand feel to it. I'd say Afterman Ascension had a somewhat epic feel to it, while Descension felt more personal since it was more focused on the relationship between Sirius and Meri. Year of the Black Rainbow was more relentlessly pummeling you into the ground, never any upbeat moments (except the pre-chorus of Shattered Symphony), but it did have a "big" feel to it. I wouldn't say the Afterman albums are underrated, it seems like they're pretty well liked, but I'd say YotBR and CBtS get wayy too much hate.
