Korn, one of the progenitors of the nu-metal movement. A lot were onto them early. But this song was their break through to mainstream. The art of Todd MacFarlane, who created Spawn. The clicky bass of Fieldy. Munky and Head's dualing guitars. Johnathan Davis' vocal delivery. David's drumming. Like Disco the late 70s and Grunge in the early 90s. The late 90s got this. I've been a fan for many years. From the brutal songs like "Somebody, Somewhere" or "K@#*%!". To the more hip hop sounds of "Cameltosis" with Pharcyde and "Children of the Korn" with Ice Cube. Or the songs that you feel like "Alone I Break" or "Thoughtless". Korn is one of the bands that still has "it". Not all their albums are great, but more of them are. I know people will suggest "Daddy" and I think you need to do only that song in a day. It's that powerful. Anything you try to do after won't get the full reaction. And you don't want to do it before bed. I'm hoping no one spoils the song. It just hits different and hard. It's, for me, the hardest Korn song to listen to. Knowing it's the truth about his past.

KoRn emerged from Bakerfield, CA and represented the 'nu generation' in 1994... they fused 90's hip hop w/ hard rock to create a dark sound that spouted lyrics about pure angst, rage, childhood trauma and loss of innocence. If u thought Nirvana was dark... KoRn took it a step further... The band was formed by members of a local band L.A.P.D. that hooked up w/ singer Jonathan Davis, who worked in a mortuary and was heavily influenced by The Cure. KoRn was rounded out by - Brian 'Head' Welch & James 'Munky' Schaffer (guitars), Reggie 'Fieldy' Arvizu (bass) and David Silveria (drums). Jonathan Davis wrote lyrics about alienation, rage and trauma he had experienced growing up. Their debut 'KoRn' album in '94 was slow to sell, but picked up sales in '95 after MTV gave them airplay. Their heavy touring built a solid fanbase that pushed KoRn's 2nd album 'Life is peachy' to #3 on the charts in 1996, which was an even darker, hardcore record... But it was the 3rd album 'Follow the leader' in 1998 that hit #1 and made them a major name in rock music ('Freak on a leash' and 'Got the life' were the 2 big singles) as KoRn became a household name... the media called their music 'nu metal' along w/ emerging bands like Staind, Godsmack, & Limp Bizkit. An explosive set at Woodstock '99 festival was followed by the 4th album 'Issues' in '99 that also hit #1. However, fame & fortune also brought dysfunction, drugs, addictions and drama into the members' lives. Going into 2002, their 5th album 'Untouchables' was another platinum success at #2 on the US charts... But touring constantly put guitarist Head's personal life in shambles and addiction to drugs finally pushed him to quit KoRn in 2004, following another major platinum record 'Take a look in the mirror' in 2003 and a 'Greatest hits' compilation in 2004. While Head embraced Christianity and sought to clean up his act... KoRn refused to replace him. In 2005, KoRn returned without Head for the album 'See you on the other side'... a touring guitarist was used for concerts, and outside songwriters/producers were brought into the studio. Drummer David Silveria quit KoRn in 2006, just before they recorded an acoustic set for MTV 'Unplugged'... KoRn recorded their 'Untitled' album in 2007 w/ session drummers... Davis, Munky & Fieldy were the only original members left in KoRn. They hired drummer Ray Luzier for the tour and he was later announced as KoRn's new drummer. Despite slowing record sales, KoRn was still popular... they attempted a return to their 'heavy' sound in 2010 w/ the album 'KoRn III: Remember who you are' ... then, got into the new dubstep sound for the 2011 album 'The Path of Totality' which they collaborated w/ dubstep artists. After years apart, guitarist Brian 'Head' Welch was finally clean and reconnected w/ members of KoRn. A concert appearance w/ Head joining KoRn onstage finally sparked a reunion (Original drummer David Silveria was not asked back) and return to the studio. Head was welcomed back to KoRn as they worked on the 2013 album 'The Paradigm shift' ... it was a success. KoRn returned to tour and were back to their heavy sound on their next album 'The Serenity of Suffering' in 2016. Sadly, tragedy struck singer Jonathan Davis, after his long struggle w/ drug addiction... his estranged wife Deven Davis lost her battle w/ addiction and passed away... He had recorded a solo album 'Black labyrinth' in 2018, then worked his grief into the lyrics of the 2019 KoRn album 'The Nothing'. The covid-19 pandemic stopped all touring plans... KoRn took a break before working on a new album "Requiem'... due for release in 2022. First single 'Start the healing' was released. KoRn toured in the fall of 2021, but covid-19 hit Jonathan Davis and the members of KoRn on the run. Thankfully, they recovered, and are planning to be back on tour in 2022.

The only thing that will stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun. I dont know if yall have went down the Pantera rabbit hole yet. They were one of the best metal bands to ever grace Gods green Earth! The guitarist, Dimebag Darrell, was just a big, long haired teddy bear. Not only was he such a good natured person but he absolutely loved everyone. No one ever had a bad word to say about him. Dime treated everyone like family. He was shot and killed on stage during a show in Columbus Ohio on December 8 2004. The gunman also shot 4 other people who tried to help Dimebag, then took a roadie hostage. A single Columbus Police Officer rushed into the club and took out the shooter with a point blank shotgiun blast to the back of his head. Watch the VH1 Behind The Music on Pantera. There are many tribute videos to Dimebag Darrell, including his own home movies. Dime and his brother Vinnie Paul (who was the drummer) are iconic rockstars, but they lived like normal people and truly appreciated their fans which they called their family. "You wanna know why I take my guitar to the bathroom? Cuz my riffs are the shit!" - Dimebag Darrell
