You can barely hear the music. I turned up the volume and put my phone speakers to an ear…I could barely hear some remnants of the music during some moments of silence after the two leads did their intro dialogue

I said this after seeing her in Rent, too -- Jocasta Almgill has one of the best American accents I've ever heard from a British performer. I had to google her to convince myself that she wasn't actually American.

If you are going to comment awful stuff about the actors and sound then ask yourself this question… Have you performed on an outdoor stage in front of thousands of people in ridiculous heat?? No probably not. West end live is one of the hardest things these actors and sound techs do. I’m not surprised most of the shows don’t do it in costume. It was hot enough in t-shirts and shorts never mind multi-later costumes! Give them some credit for doing their job and giving us this all for free!!! Stop commenting anything unless it’s positive. The whole point of west end live is to share joy and happiness!!!

It’s not the actors fault but the sound is terrible. It’s a WEL issue, it happens every single year.

@@katlndryBecause it's done LIVE. If the WEL shows had a Blu-ray, DVD, or any other release after the live show, we'd get a better sounding mix.

Thanks for sharing these videos on KZfaq, for those of us who could not be in London to see them live. What amazing talent we have working in our theatres! 😍 ... However, to whoever technically managed this show, specifically the sound mix for these recordings, this is embarrassing! You've let down all the performers significantly, across all the 2023 West End Live performances I've watched so far. Why's the audio level of the crowd so low in all videos? What happened to balancing vocal levels in duets? Vocal reverb? What a shame. You were there to make these performances shine, instead all I can "see" when I watch it is the chaotic, poor technical production. 👎

I was there yesterday, and the sound was amazing for most songs (but I was at the very front), and we could hear the backing track/music loud and clear. I think in the recordings it’s just so much worse… also I think they edit the sound of the crowd cause we were extremely loud

his name is solomon davy, and let me tell you he was absolutely phenomenal in the actual production. saw it with my mom a few weeks ago and he was my favourite part of the whole thing. he’s even cuter in person lmao

Why do musicals at West End Live barely perform in costume anymore? I think it is better when they do perform in some form of their costume, recently it has been normal clothes or t-shirts with the musical logo on it

I'd imagine the heat has something to do with it! Getting sweaty then having to do two more shows the same day.

Disney shows aren’t allowed to wear their costumes out of the theater

Full hair and costume also involves other departments and they are often back at the theatre prepping everything for the two shows that day. There’s a lot behind the scenes to get get a show up that factor in.

Also, most musicals have a show right after so not enough time to get costumes ready for showtime
