When she talks about being so tired.....classic depression. It's such a shame that people (myself inclluded) feel like they have to put on "the mask" and hide their depression from others. Most of us are people pleasers to the end, not wanting to upset others. What a beautiful woman inside and out. Such a loss. Prayers for all of her loved ones.

There were hints of her depression in this clip if you pay attention. “I was a happy kid back then, had lots of energy, but now there is no energy, I’m always tired” “I wish I didn’t get rid of my gap while trying to conform and look like everybody else” “I wish I could have been okay being myself” “I am an introvert, I didn’t have lots of friends…” Rest in peace beautiful! I wish she was strong enough to beat it. So much talent, beauty and class, all gone.

Cheslie Kryst was born on April 28, 1991 and her life tragically ended today on January 30, 2022. This is a video of her looking back on her childhood in 2020… she was Miss USA 2019, an attorney, and an incredible inspiration to young girls. This video is so much more sad with the given context of what she was going through internally. She left everything to her mom in her suicide note 💔. I can see the inner depression in her smiling eyes throughout this video. She was trying her best to stay strong and positive… I so wish that someone could have helped her feel more comfortable with needing mental health help. To tell her it’s okay to be depressed, but she was still worth more than she knew… may she Rest In Power and may we all learn to take mental health seriously.

@Rhonda McKnight -- depression didn't allow Cheslie to see that things could turn around for her. I struggled with depression for years. I'm talking about the type of depression that makes it hard to get out of bed some days; so just imagine that level of emotional/mental darkness... it's heavy. If that's what she was feeling, it's completely understandable that she couldn't see that things would get better. It's a deeply heartbreaking story because if there had been one person she could have called, or one person on the 29th floor who noticed her, her perspective may have totally changed by the next day, or even later that same day.

Sometimes a person can have a bad break up from a romantic relationship and the rejection is so painful that they make an impulsive decision. She hid everything better than I could ever dream of doing, if I had been dealing with emotions as heavy as she. Cheslie was a very strong woman. Very determined and sure of her intentions. She was very focused and walked in the power of self determination. I still respect her. I refuse to look or “feel some kind of way” towards her because of her decision to exit the planet like she did. I celebrate her life and the fact that she is now at peace. WHAT A GENUINE, BEAUTIFUL SOUL. Of many of the “ pagea participants” I’ve seen, Cheslie had a warmth and realness to her that made her relatable. Given what I have seen of her character I think she would want to leave behind a legacy of people not being afraid to ask for help and loving themselves more. (I say this because while she was struggling internally, she was clearly giving of herself and would not wish that pain on anyone else)I hope we can all honor her by her doing both of these things a little more in our daily lives. ❤️🙏🏼❤️I know why the cage bird sings.

I get the feeling she was bullied as a child, along with what she says she didn’t have many friends, was introverted, mommy was her best friend, she strived to be all she could be, pushed herself to achieve all her accomplishments for the validation of others and yet all the while her cup was not full … but yet she was so loved by so many.. something was missing .. she was truly a beautiful soul inside & out..she accomplished so much maybe she just couldn’t figure out her true purpose .. people need validation she wanted to be seen as the child she once was not for her beauty and all her accomplishments.. I am just learning about her and her death all in today. And the more videos I watch of her, the more I understand what happened here, This girl was a rare soul like myself. Some call it "chosen ones". She had a pure spirit...like she genuinely loves everyone and wants the best for everyone even her enemies. Almost like a child like innocence. Mmm I don’t know about all that. Sounds a little narcissistic. I’m sure it was more internal for her. She was trapped in her own thoughts. DFW said: The so-called ‘psychotically depressed’ person who tries to kill herself doesn’t do so out of quote ‘hopelessness’ or any abstract conviction that life’s assets and debits do not square. And surely not because death seems suddenly appealing. The person in whom Its invisible agony reaches a certain unendurable level will kill herself the same way a trapped person will eventually jump from the window of a burning high-rise. Make no mistake about people who leap from burning windows. Their terror of falling from a great height is still just as great as it would be for you or me standing speculatively at the same window just checking out the view; i.e. the fear of falling remains a constant. The variable here is the other terror, the fire’s flames: when the flames get close enough, falling to death becomes the slightly less terrible of two terrors. It’s not desiring the fall; it’s terror of the flames. And yet nobody down on the sidewalk, looking up and yelling ‘Don’t!’ and ‘Hang on!’, can understand the jump. Not really. You’d have to have personally been trapped and felt flames to really understand a terror way beyond falling. David Foster Wallace

@@chiccavaquita "sounds a little narcissistic" my sentiments exactly. We just don't understand you and it hurts. We truly have nothing but love in hearts and get great joy from making others feel like they are on top of the world. I really wish everyone in the world had these qualities... "invisible agony" and "unendurable level" is hopelessness...it's a broken spirit that cannot be repaired. You will never understand because it appears you've been blessed enough in this life to have never felt such pain which is why you are quoting some random person. Be grateful. Many of us, unfortunately understand very well and do not need to quote others because we live it through it for now.

Yes, she was unhealthily fixated on aging. 30 is not old. She got that mentality from somewhere close to home, not just society.
@rivercanyonmissile2137

Yeah, she thought 30 was old. Under society rules, 30 is old. Like you should have a husband and some kids by then, I guess. The number for being considered middle aged gets lower and lower. I think it's just a marketing ploy for the big elite capitalist billionaires to aim and sell their products and push their worthless goods onto the young. The world is obsessed with youth.

@@Skyla_and_Adina24 No conspiracy theories... Very little PROOF she killed herself jumping has been offered, other than rumor of some note left behind in her condo... All she told her Mom is that by the time she received the message she would "no longer be alive", which means she could have had somebody assist her with it or possible foul play... I have no doubt that she was suffering from something, however, the narrative of her "jumping" just don't fit the physical evidence... And I hope and pray someday that the real truth will be revealed...

So beautiful. What a waste!!! I wish she could have been saved.😰 Another thing, ppl please stop diminishing the gravity of this situation and saying her death was as a result of foul play. We all need to acknowledge that seemingly strong, beautiful and overall “having their shit together,” people have mental health struggles too. Yes, sometimes depression wins! The sooner we acknowledge this, the sooner we can reach out to people who might need help instead of glossing over the signs. It’s an insult to this young lady to deny the pain that might have driven her to take such drastic actions! May her family find comfort at this time.🥺

@Leslie Lelaind - So sorry to read about your long term depression. I have experienced that as well; I often thought about suicide in my 20s and 30s, but I sought therapy and I currently practice self-care and remind myself of the pain the act of suicide leaves behind. I wish I had had kids, but I was too depressed in my 20s and 30s to feel like I would be a good mother. I was also too depressed to believe that I was worthy of a great partner....it's been an uphill battle, and sometimes I still battle negative thinking, but I also read inspiring books and I focus on the hobbies that bring me a measure of peace and joy. Sending you positive energy and strength.

Her voice is shaking in a lot of the emotional reflections. She is so beautiful, but with the benefit of hindsight, she looks and sounds on the verge of tears. 😢 it’s like she knows she is amazing, but feels sorrow for the girl that journeyed to become who she is. She wants to love that version of herself but feels bad for her. My sister has hair like her, long thick and curly. She had her hair cut like the Mohawk pic of Cheslie when she was in elementary school and was never the same. She was always sad. That is all they have in common because my sister has struggled with substance abuse and mental health issues. She is alive, thank God, but my heart bleeds for Cheslie. I relate to her on many levels as an achiever, but never an achiever at her level. Beautiful, and relishing the currency$ of my beauty, but not a beauty queen. Strong, but no six pack. I’m an introvert who turns it on and charms those around me, I hide my emotions. In the storing one, and the one others turn to. And I have ten years in her. I have struggled with mental health and I’ve gotten treatment and therapy. I’m thriving and I am compassionate with myself. I fear the loss of my beauty, but I’m solo as beautiful as I was ten years ago- maybe more so! I with Cheslie had given herself a chance to heal and to further mature. I am the youngest of four and still feel like I’m in my twenties. I’m immature in many ways, but after a lifetime of perfectionism, ocd, add, ptsd, anxiety, and perfectly hidden depression, I have immense compassion for myself. I look forward more than I look back. I find lessons in hardship and challenge myself to find my role in any conflict. I am what Cheslie could have become, but she would have made it to 40 having accomplished twice as much. I say that with no self depreciation. I’m very successful and very talented. But I’m ok with not being best and the most. I have not Alexis been ok with it- but I am not. I wish Cheslie had given herself the chance to evolve. My daughter is her. Tall, muscular, waist length curls, brown, beautiful. She could be a beauty queen like Cheslie. In 2019, when Cheslie was crowned Miss USA, my little one was 7. She was crying and begging for me to cut her hair. She hated her beautiful hair because it was not like the girls at school. I showed her Cheslie and let her see a woman who looked like her was the beauty queen of our nation. It made my daughter beam. She learned to wash and detangle her own hair and wears it out like Cheslie and with pride! Cheslie touched more people than she could have even imagined. I’m in disbelief, but I took this opportunity to offer my daughter my preemptive support if she ever feels despair. My daughters are very emotional and highly sensitive. And Cheslie, while an inspiration to us all, is also a cautionary tale. I send my love to Cheslie, and to anyone struggling. Please be kind to yourselves. You deserve it!

It's interesting to hear her say she was always a happy child full of energy given how depressed she ultimately became. I initially speculated that perhaps she was born depressed; that she suffered from depression her entire life but it doesn't sound like it from what she's shared. So it beckons the questions, when did it change for her? ...and what caused her to fall into such a depression?
