Not just 25 players win the Stanley Cup. An entire well-greased and competent group of individuals behind the scenes are the un-sung heroes. Great video of some of these un-sung heroes.

Meh. Players could do about 99% of this stuff themselves. The only thing they really need is a dude to sharpen their skates. These positions exist for neppy babies

@@CubeInspector says the armchair quarterback has no idea of all the intricacies of how these organizations are run. Physiotherapists and dieticians, equipment managers who know the science involved in the chamber of a blade or the exact fitting of specialized equipment for injuries. These guys never really stop working except maybe having some time off during the off-season. None of this video shows how much extra work they need to do for home games, as they are not only responsible for doing their own team's laundry, but also the opposing teams' laundry. They are also responsible for doing jersey setups, equipment repairs and ordering, plus ensuring they pack extra spare equipment for all road trips. The sheer number of total hours per season they are probably on their feet just sharpening skates must be incalculable.

What a contrast between being a pro hockey player and a typical beer league warrior. One of my beer league teammates forgot a single shinguard so taped a stack of folded newspaper/flyers to his leg that he found in the rink lobby in order to play that night. No equipment staff to attend to our needs on our team.

This was a great video, nice to learn what happens behind the scenes. Questions: - How much an equipment manager make? It seems to me that you do more work and have a bigger impact on teams success than some of the players in the team. - When is the gear washed? My son used to play hockey and his gear just stunk and it was next to impossible to get rid of the smell. - You ever make mistakes like misplace someone's gear? How to those players making millions take it?
