Mr. Gravano: My late paternal grandfather was an "acquaintance" of the late Carlos Marcello and the members of the New Orleans organization. He wasn't a made man, and I wouldn't even call him a soldier or an associate. He just periodically did favors for the organization as far as I know. I do know that Mr. Marcello would travel to my home town frequently to play in a poker game with my grandfather, my maternal great-grandfather, and a few others. This was in no way considered to be "odd" or "exciting" or "flirting with danger." Don Marcello acted as any other businessman would act in public.
