From Season 6 Episode 18, The Reverend Sanford. To avoid paying taxes, Fred buys a mail-order clergy ordination and transforms his home into the Chapel on the Junkpile for the church of the Seventh-Day Junkists.

About Sanford And Son: The highest-rated half-hour series in NBC history at the time, Sanford and Son stars Redd Foxx as the cantankerous sexagenarian Fred Sanford and Demond Wilson as his son Lamont, also his business partner in the family junk-dealing business. To prevent his son from leaving home, and bent on having things his own way in general, Fred often calls upon such ruses as fake heart attacks or phony back ailments. Lamont usually sees through these subterfuges, but because he loves his father, he lets him think he's getting his way.

Perfect timing. I'm a bit behind on mine too I'm 55 and loved watching this show when it was new with my Dad. I don't like how my money is getting spent either. I'm not alone in this. Red just helps us take it with a spoon of sarcastic Sugar .😁 he always did and thanks to these old shows still can. My little cluttered old house and the one on the show both are old and full of old stuff. I guess the show was a strong influenc 😁 . The thing is I have lots of friends and we do good things together. Some with money some Broke. When you are broke you know who your Freinds really are.

Different writers around this part of Sanford and Son You can tell, because their strictly into character no personality,Fred not the original Fred from the earlier seasons,I was not to big on the newer seasons to be after season 3 and 4,it went another way
