I have a slight obsession with 1978- 1982 and any movies/music from those years. One of the best and saddest movies from 1981 'Out of the Blue' and other ones like 'Times Square' and 'Over the Edge'. Wonder if I was young and died then came back reincarnated in 1982. Was born in 82' but always felt as if I belonged in another time. Never felt at home here or as if I belong, but many people feel that way so more than likely one of those pesky human feelings again OH and 'Grave of the Fireflies'

Also the video is pure 80´s gold, just the style which somebody calls bad, but when you thing about it - how original and fresh is this compared to the videos of today? @@lilyleon1475 Only in theory. Since the 1980s, when there was a huge variety and already highly advanced technology, music has taken a slide into the abyss. The 1990s were still great, although not as innovative and already a little narrow in terms of variety. But the average quality of post-2000 music is just horrendous. Obviously, in every era, there are wonderful pieces. But 1980s had the richest combination of audio quality, video quality, variety, and innovation. It is easy to determine from how many memorable songs of all kinds there are. For example, post-2010, there are literally just a few, compared to the countless hundreds from 1980s. Today, music is very limited in terms of style, there is often unbearable repetitiveness, etc. Obviously, if people became internally free and independent again, like so many were 40 years ago, music could shine again or even more, thanks to the basically unlimited audiovisual capabilities of today. But the problem is that most artists tend to conform to certain unhealthy trends that turn their creations into a monotonous mess.
@lilyleon1475 Жыл бұрын
@@jakubkrcma - What do you mean by "only in theory"? This isn't an academic subject we're talking about, it's purely subjective. Let me explain - for most of us, we'll identify the music at the time of our formative years and teens as the best, simply because that's what we identify with. I grew up in the 70s and loved the music from my generation, but now I'm older, I appreciate the music back then was written and performed by artistes, using real instruments and not synthesisers. So much so, I've gone back to the 60s and actually prefer the music of that time period. I can't say the same for the 80s, simply because the synth, killed off a lot of the creativeness and allowed any idiot to creative an automated backing track and sing to it. Look at the Stock, Aitken and Waterman hits for example. All sounded the same, but with different artists and a very polished video. Well, I listen to music for the musical content - I don't want the video and the difference here is that music from the 60s and 70s, were mainly heard on the radio and MTV changed all that. You make some good points and I agree with a lot of what you said, but returning to my original comment now, I maintain that 80's music is easily bettered and JJBgaming might agree, if he / she actually listened to music from the two decades previously.
@jakubkrcma Жыл бұрын
@@lilyleon1475 I love music from all eras, lots of stuff from 1950-1980. But 1980s were the turning point where stuff stopped going up and started to go down for me. When you said that it can be bettered, I thought you were referring to something post-1990 because of the chronological dependency of the verb to better. Clearly, the '60s and '70s were the peak of non-electronic music. A wonderful mix of modern music with more classical instruments.
@lilyleon1475 Жыл бұрын
@@jakubkrcma In total agreement, especially where, post 1980 marks the turning point and decline of the music industry in general. I was only 3 when I started buying records at the age of three in 1980. It was hard to buy all the records I wanted with $5 a week pocket money when a single was $2.49/$2.99 and an album was $10.99. Easton had to change the song's title here in the US and Canada due to not releasing it on our continent until the 9 to 5 movie and Dolly Parton's title track coming out between the time Easton released the song in her native UK and the time she released it here in North America. That's why I sometimes forget this banger's original title. I went a bit too long without listening to it.

This Classic Sheena Easton song first hit the airwaves in 1981 (my high school graduation 🎓 year). I always loved it, and had a teenage boy crush on beautiful Sheena Easton. I loved her and Olivia Newton John with "Physical" which came out months later I believe in 1981-82. Great memories! I miss that time period.😊😊👍😇🙏✝️♥️

I have great memories of this song. I was staying with an English family as part of a language study trip in Biggin Hill, Kent, in Engalnd when I heard it on the radio. I was 11 and so happy to get the single at the record store in London. I then kept listening to it on my record player back to France. Such a catchy and refreshing song. Everything was cool…

Don’t hurt. You’re a living time machine. Your a conduit to the past... and you’re supposed to be allowing the knowledge you attained to flow to the next generation. If that’s not happening, you might have a serious problem. Since I know that’s not happening anywhere anymore, we’re at the end times. Technology just controls the peoples focus and harnesses their energy and potential. When you were a kid, did you see the fork in the road?

Fabuloso !!! Lo recuerdo desde niño a este tema... me quedo grabado en la memoria desde que daban la publicidad en TV. del disco ese pedacito del video ella cantando y la locomotora atras.
This song was played during lunch everyday without fail when i was in junior high school. After i entered high school, my english teacher at cram school, who is young but loves 70s and 80s music, once played this song on his youtube by chance. Then i immediately recognised it. Couldn’t believe such a great song was played in a rural japanese school without anyone knowing it, haha
