The reason they have everything in one side is to improve sound quality. Nice radio. Innovative.

A kind of all-in-one radio for sure and the improvements they are making may well put this radio up there with the modern classics.

Good review and excellent suggestions for improvements for battery door, back stand & SSB fine tuning etc. I'll wait for further improvements before I get one of these. Otherwise its going in the right direction.

As I said before, due to the LC90's shortcomings still, I am glad I did return mine to Amazon. Where is RDS, and which would it not connect to my WiFi, but it tethered to my phone, because of my security. I agree that the inputs could be placed on the other blank side. Thanks. 😊

Still no Air Band...

I'm on the West Coast, and we've got very little SW broadcast to listen to. AM DX can be a lot of fun. And there's the crowd on the beaches in winter catching MW from Korea etc al around dawn with loops or ferrite external antennas. Does the FM offer adjustable bandwidth? There are no vacant frequencies where I live. Hard to catch skip.

It's almost there for general shortwave. Hopefully, they'll be able to fix the SSB tuning problem soon. For outdoor external antenna overloading of the radio, have you considered using an adjustable antenna signal attenuator? That could be a solution well worth trying. I find the blocking of radio broadcasts to be quite sad. One controlled viewpoint is not good. 😲

Some times when you select your favorites on AM, the signal is not working, you need to move the dial up and down, and then you can listen the signal.

I use a Sangean PR-D3 AM/FM portable and 100 cm diameter 9-turn tunable PVC box loop for AM medium wave long distance reception. This radio is modelled on the Crane CC 2E portable. It is very sensitive, and doesn't generate RFI from the LCD display. For 65-108 MHz DX, a TEF6686 desktop version radio is used. Both excel the LC90 in overall DX pickup performance. A Icom R8600 is used for shortwave and low VHF DX between 30-65 MHz. These radios are closer to perfect ideal for very weak signal reception.

I returned mine, even with update 4.5. I could not get over the many problems, that are too numerous to mention here. I will mention that the search function is useless. I spent several hours looking for about 20 stations ( that my other internet radio found immediately ) that I listen to regularly. I only found 4. This radio does have outstanding audio, very good FM performance, and in my opinion, average SW performance ( very poor SSB performance ) In the end, I could not justify the 250 dollar price paid, so I sent it back for a refund. I'll wait until the new model, LC100, comes out , as mentioned by Dan Robinson, in 2025.

I have version 4.4; it doesn't update over the air - when I try as instructed, radio tells me there is no update. I go to the Choyong website and it says 4.5 download is available but when I click on it, it is a 4.4 version that is downloaded. Really great to see the 4.5 update review; wish I could get 4.5 onto my LC90.

I really appreciate the updated review and if I were in the market for a radio, I'd be much more inclined to get one of these than before. The firmware updates are a big deal. As it is, my Tecsun PL-990 with Bluetooth plus my iPhone do the same thing and I have too many radios already.

I see there is a mini version of this radio. Looks really nice. Any idea if the mini can get the SSB upgrade?

The SSB flaw for me is a deal breaker. Maybe they’ll fix it.
