'They were arguing about how the sushi and rice (the one with wasabi) was meant to be eaten together. Micheal can't have fish and so "he missed half the meal."' So there, now you can see you were wrong.

I'm working at a sushi restaurant in Japan and I can say this: All the fish is freezing the fridge, and it so hard that you can use it like sword. The things that make sushi difference is how the rice was cooked, how did they preserved the fish and the sauce. And yes I eat sushi 5 days a week.

Yep, fresh fish can have an overpowering sea smell/taste. While this smell/taste is utilized in some cuisine, it is undesired in many others. The main purpose of the wasabi is to balance out the fishy taste with a hint of spicyness. In fresh sushi, eating without the wasabi and ginger or without the fish itself will overpower the dish one way or the other. As an added bonus, the wasabi helps stick the fish to the rice, not that it is needed.

@@riddixdan5572 Dont worry about it. Fresh Seafood is a luxury and hella expensive anyways. Not to mention some people actually do enjoy the fishy taste. Even myself, i had to save up for like 4 years while I was a student to travel to japan. I spent like 70$ on a platter of sushi in Tsukiji Market and I don't regret it even a little. Second best food I've had in my life ranking right after the slice of a5 wagyu I had while I was there as well. Best part is, I'm Hindu and had no plans of eating wagyu but thank god I did.

No, I agree with Mykull. If you're charging $100 for sushi, that rice has to be PERFECT. Wasabi straight on the rice is traditional, but that rice has got to be perfect and aromatic. If you can't nail that, despite having wasabi on your rice, you're not worth $100.

I highly doubt it’s actually one piece of sushi for $100, also, pretty sure Americans have a natural weakness to wasabi, like it’s a genetic thing, anddd, he didn’t eat the fish, if you just eat ketchup by itself I would be too strong, that’s why you eat ketchup with other shit, same logic with wasabi, you have to eat it with the fish, sushi is a dish which includes all components and that’s why it’s good.
