Nice video mate 😊 I can see why you found them trackside alarms annoying as it sounds like they constantly made noise. However, I do like the sounds made when trains approach. Nice variety of trains 👍

Thanks very much! 👍👍 I can see how one with an acquired taste could like the sounds of those alarms, but in truth, I do wish they weren't sounding so much haha. Can certainly see a variety of rolling stock from a variety of TOCs if you spend a little time here too 😊

Great video and nice catch of the class 91 and DVT, that alarm sounds faulty 👍

Thanks! One of the trackside alarms was a little faulty, and one of the crossing's alarms was flat as you may have heard.

Nice video, wow them trackside alarms sound really cool, I bet it was to you at first aswell, but seeing as you were there for all them trains, I can imagine they would of sounded very annoying after a while, I do like the mix of the Flat alarm and that other one. Great video 😁

Thanks! You're right; at first, I didn't mind the sounds, but as they are very loud and were continuously sounding in one tone or the other, it did get annoying after a while!

where is that extra alarm noise coming from?
@SouthEastLevelCrossings

I mentioned in the description. That came from Engineers' approach alarms, which were warning on-site track workers of approaching trains when their tones changed. It was quite annoying that they were bleeping away for the entire time though

Nice one! Funnily enough, as this video was posted I was looking on the ABC railway guide at this crossing and the footpath one too! Strange. 😳 Very annoying alarm as well coming from the trackside, must’ve driven you insane.

Thanks! 😁 That certainly was a funny co-incidence haha. Those alarms were sounding for the entire time, and they were really loud (all understandable as there were workers about). When I was walking to Gills, the path took me really quite close to one of those alarms, and they're very loud!

I didn't know there were track-side alarms here! Ik there are some at Barkston Junction and Grantham tunnel that do the same ambient / active signal! One was definitely faulty and one sounded like it was a YA50 or Klaxon? Someone had 'Any Colour You Like' on in the car too!

It seemed as though they were all YO5-type Yodalarms, but one near the Gills FPC may have been a YA50 as it sounded like a very loud YA30.

Was there an E2S alarm for track side warning as well? Hear one with the Yodel alarm I thought

I don't think there was. The alarms on the trackside did produce different sounds, but they all appeared to be of the same kind.

I mean, I guess the annoying alarm is important, think of the blind people, if their walking and they don't realise that the barriers are down it would be quite an important warning to them that a train is actually coming

Those loud alarms are for the trackside workers. The level crossing itself does have its own alarms to warn of the barriers lowering too, though these are reasonably quiet. There's a footpath crossing nearby, and those trackside alarms would definitely be very useful for partially-sighted people, as that level crossing doesn't have its own alarms.
