for me the D4 and d3 are amazing on these tracks. the suspension on these huge holes is awesome. ridge didge. good stuff soldier.

The traction control in the Defenders is pretty good. Can't wait for the new model to come out and see how offroad capable it is - the specs are insane.

It does have a rear locker that makes a hell of a difference to it's capabilities.

The D4 does has a rear e-locker in it and usually makes light work of most sections. The wrong line can still make it work hard though and it actually got hung up on the first section for a while before it got through. I've only put up the highlights on this vid as it was becoming a very long edit trying to show every attempt.

Have been very impressed with the ST MAXX. One of the best combination touring and offroad tyres on the market. Wearing well so far after 40,000kms including the trip to Cape York and some rough work around Lithgow and the Watagans.

The hard part with a general touring club is that most of the vehicles are daily drivers and used for both off-road and daily on-road duties. As a result, not all have lockers (yet). Having already spent around $20k fitting out the defender, they are on the list but just didn't make it to the 'must-have's' for the majority of the kind of touring we do in it. Hoping it will be part of Monty's xmas presents though ;-)

Defender has stock suspension and you are spot on about the lockers - there are no lockers fitted on this vehicle. Amazingly capable vehicle right off the showroom floor. Mind you I wouldn't be against Santa bringing me a set of Corsetti extreme suspension mods but at 6,500 GBP - I don't think that's going to happen ;-)

Have done it both direction in the wet and it can get pretty gnarly. One of my favourite little tracks though. Great fun.

Given the limited time I have spare to play with this stuff, I usually just throw them into iMovie or Final Cut Pro.

The D2 driver has the best vehicle to work with

Most of the vehicles do not have lockers fitted. Only the Mitsu Challenger (rear locker) and the D4 (rear e-locker).

Great video - Defenders seem to have least trouble with this terrain. New one can be specced with terrain response - I guess that makes a big difference

Where are you in Canada? Swing by my driveway and you'll see a 200tdi 110, LHD with rear locker. If you want an auto, you'll be best buliding it yourself as there aren't a lot of automatic transmission Defenders around. That is, unless you go with a 1997 NAS 90 V8 or the occasional special edition in the UK. Great videos, BTW. I love seeing the D4 on the trail. I'd consider one if they came in diesel in Canada ... and if I could afford it!

The red Discover, are the tyres 235/85/16? They look like skinny 32's. Very similar sidewall height as 265/75/16 but they look skinnier than 265's. I want the 235/85/16 or 255/85/16. I am running 7.5r16 at present and skinny is the way to go..!! Totally converted.

Why no Mercedes G?

It doesn't have TC unfortunately and the 4WD kept jumping out. A common problem with this model.

The D4'may have struggled a couple of times by taking the wrong one..

Poor Hilux though :(
