Ireland and Munster legend Ronan O'Gara joins Joe Molloy to talk his coaching development with Crusaders and where it might take him and the All Blacks' vulnerabilities ahead of the Ireland match and a year out from the 2019 Rugby World Cup as well as Beauden Barrett and drop goals

Still can't understand why he gave away that penalty against the Springboks in extra time of the 2nd Lions Test in 2009 with the scores tied?! All he had to do was boot it out.

And possibly just different styles of game. Northern Hemisphere teams use them as a genuine points-scoring option throughout a match. The All Blacks and other Southern Hemisphere teams generally only kick drop goals in the final minutes to win games. And the All Blacks aren't in that position all that often.

@@chrisrudsdale I think Joel Stransky (SA) once kicked 5 drop goals in one game but generally speaking I think you're right, breaking the defence with ball in hand seems to be about more than just the points

Goodness me, i think Ronan O'Gara and Paul O'Connell combo in coaching after Joe Schmit will be world no 1. Just their level of understanding, they just need a few more star players and depth. Give it 2 years, i think they will be the irish coaching team.

@@johntumai827 Great prospects for Ireland in the future though. Just a bit concerned about the average age of the playing squad, as most of the very important players range from 29 - 34. Calls into question what the players are like coming through.

@tinymahuta I totally agree. What would one of the most capped, highest points scoring and longest serving Irish internationals, who has played the All Blacks, has coached former All Blacks, coaches current All Blacks and is close friends (and in regular contact) with players that have just recently beaten the All Blacks know about the All Blacks?! I'm baffled why an Irish rugby show would ask his opinion.
