!!Science!! Been messing around to discover more of this game's mechanics thanks to you reminding me this game existed. I've found very interesting discoveries you might want to take into account into your next playthrough: ­Upg. *Soldiers* *into* *Amazons & Fighters* Chase stragglers with 12 soldiers. An ideal candidate for this is on the map where you save Yumil, I think the second battle. The Cleric that tried to "lure you away" (just a backstabber) is actually a 1xfighter 2x cleric team. Send in 1x cleric 12x soldiers team. Bam! 3x Amazon. And yes, just 3. There's a cap apparently. I stopped when I should have had my 5th (returned to town). You can also get fighters this way, but without a male healer, it requires more micromanagement. In that specific example, that cleric is a coward and will flee. Otherwise, kill leaders, especially against teams with, say, 1 dollmaster leader and 3 witches, and send the soldiers. You can also force them to exhaust themselves so that they set-up camp, heal themselves, and get farmed for more soldier points! *Reach high stats* _I am not done testing this, can only confirm at low levels!_ Some classes give HUGE _"catch-up"_ bonuses. To be clear, when you level-up a character, based on its class, it seems to gain 2-3 points in their dump stats, 3-4 in an average stat, about 5 in their best stat. But if the character has a low main stat, relative to its level, there is a _catch-up_ bonus. I'm tracking the stats of my characters right now, and I turned a level 6 fighter with *57 Int* , and when it hit level 7 reached *71 Int* . That's 3 levels' full bonuses. I think we can weaponize this. If the _catch-up_ bonus works as I think it does (reach a minimum-per-level so you're not thrash), every 5 levels or so, switch class (e.g.: Berserker > Fencer), train that character in a team that's above average (which is excellent to reduce your own alignment, see next point) so it gains 1 level in that class and gain the _catch-up_ bonus, and revert to your previous class. In this specific case, you lose about 2 Vitality points top and can gain up to 15 agility. _E.G.:_ One of the Wizard's best is Int. Wizard's average would be Agi. Wizard's low would be Vit. Vit is useful for a Wizard (mitigates physical damage), so if Berzerker has a catch-up Vitality bonus, switch for one training level into Berserker and get that sweet damage reduction against bows! *Manipulating Alignment* The easiest way to dump alignment is to hunt down high alignment characters _(Do not look only at classes only!)_ with as high level characters as you can. You drop alignment when you kill foes that are weaker than you, and holier than thou. So show your cruel side! The easiest way to gain alignment is ogres / goblins. You usually gain extra bonuses for they tend to be high level, they're also all chaos aligned. If your goal is to have 1 High-Alignment unit to capture/liberate towns, farm ogres in the first map that introduce them then stop battling with that team. *Remember: Training doesn't change alignment, so your High alignment team can keep up!*

Looking back on Hugo... Diomedes accuses him of being biased, which he is. He committed crimes with Magnus's dad and just wants Old Man Ankiseth Gallant to keep his mouth shut about them. By the time you find out what Ankiseth, Hugo, and Asnabel were up to, it's like: wait, Hugo didn't care about the protagonist at all. He just doesn't want to go to jail.

Probably one of the games I have spent the most time playing...the Fallout and Elder Scrolls games are up there too. But I used to kill everything and take all of the cities...spent a ton of time trying to clear it all.

This brings back so many memories.

I have a lot of play time on this game, both on my kids N64 from way back, as well as a couple playthroughs on PJ64. I loved the oddball battle system, grinding neutrals, lvl'ing weaklings to see if I can make em useful, basically playing every way that would tax the patience of most lol. I'll watch but might skip around.

When he chose "Strife" all I could think of was one of those early internet animations - I think it was a couple of guys who called themselves something like Threebrain - they did these silly songs, one of them being "Weee! Gonads and Strife", and one of the brilliant lyrics was "When you're a kid and you wanna go Weee! But you ain't got drugs yet. You hold on to your little gonads...and strife. Gonads and strife! Gonads and strife! Gonads and strife! Gonads in the lightning! In the lightning! In the rain!" I was always more of a fan of their songs "Schoolbus" and "Hypothermia". I had a friend who would come over to my house about once a month, and every single time he would make me watch those videos, and he would laugh his tits off every single time, as if he was watching them for the 1st time.

Easily one of the greatest RPGS out there. Though with regards to your choices there is a combination that nets you a...Blessed Sword...I think it was. The weapon you need to get access to paladins. That actually allowed you to get them a few stages earlier if you were willing to unequip it from Magnus...I mean...Slappy.

How did you emulate this game?

It looks like you're playing a Virtual Console dump of the game in an emulator. Am I right? If not, which version is it? N64 emulation usually has text box glitches, VC WADs have a black boxes on the left as the sky pans up in the intro... Game runs fine on Wii-U, but... no fast forward on a Wii-U. Boooo.
