Marchands evolution is insane. He broke into the league as a 4th line pest. He looked like the new Sean Avery/jarko ruutu/etc.. Now, he’s a bonafide star. 2 goals shy of becoming the all time leader in goals scored during the playoffs for one of the most storied franchises in the league. He might be a dirty rat, but for those of us that anre old enough to have witnessed his entire career, he’s very inspirational.

He's grown a lot as a player. Obviously, earlier in his career he was just as talented but often stepped over that line with his antics. If memory serves me correct, he got pulled aside by multiple people (including Bergy) in the organization after he licked Ryan Callahan vs. the Lightning. He also licked Kamarov of the Leafs that same 2018 playoff run.

gotta say, that marchand bertuzzi tussle before the goal (the first one lol) is on Bert, from game 1 he has been trying to get under Marchands skin. Endless slashes, holds, interferences and Marchand has just come out on top everytime. Today just showed it so clearly, two times Bert tried directly challenging him that ended shortly in goals for the Bruins. He is getting schooled. Gotta give credit where it's due and Marchand is one of hockey's GOAT's. He tied an organisational playoff record today with Neely and knocked him off the perch with another.

As a Bruins fan, I think we all understand why everyone hates Marchy. He's the NHL's Shoresy, so we get it. Glad to see some respect on his name, though (for a change).

Marchand has made his whole career out of being a rat, and playing the mind games with other teams. I think his & Bertuzzi's "beef" is more of that, not that he's got anything in particular against the kid. Some guys focus on the stick and puck. Marchand focuses on the mentality of the other team, collectively. He's really good at getting under your skin, and tiptoeing that line between "psychological warfare" and "unsportsmanlike conduct". And I mean REALLY good. Personally, I would love to buy him a beer just to thank him for showing that there's still a place in the NHL for folks that are still technically brilliant, but not on the level of Berdard or McJesus. That there's still a spot for the mental game.

The best thing you can do is ignore his antics. The Leafs played right into his hands in that game. And once he’s got you there, he’ll burn you on the scoresheet too obviously. Just don’t give him the juice. I can’t believe they still haven’t learned lol

It's the Toronto Sun. When Tavares got knocked out vs Montreal couple years back, they went with "Captain Crunch" as their headline and a pic of JT unconscious and bleeding. They have zero shame.

Brad has mellowed a bit with age. I mean his antics but not his play. He seems to be looking for the pass more than the shot. Being on the line with Bergeron so many years has helped his team play.

Leafs shot themselves in the foot not scoring on their power plays, but then the refs stopped calling infractions against the bruins because of the penalty disparity (game management) which they shouldn’t because mcavoy was then allowed to tackle Matthews and after that the Marchand Bertuzzi nonsense which should have been blown dead at the least with a penalty for both, but they were still not calling penalties because the bruins had been called three times in a row I think, this non whistle led directly to a goal that should not go in. The kicker is after this the refs realized they fucked up and going against what they had been doing, which was call nothing, they then made a makeup call on mcavoy, which the leafs blew, before they then called a weak one on Bert which coyle also sold (embellishment), that was much softer than the direct elbow to Bert’s face by Marchand earlier which was also not called… Quite the series of events. While I was watching the first goal against you could tell there was something going on because the crowd noise was rising because of it lol, everyone was watching it more or less, before the puck was even heading back to the leafs end I was expecting a whistle at any moment. That moment never came until their goal went in. Which everyone was kind of in disbelief about because half the players were involved in the scrum at that point and a few were still playing. Frederic shot it in the net and half the players were like, huh? The other half were scrumming, and the camera cut to the scrum and Frederic skated into and they started cheering lol. One of the weirdest plays I’ve ever seen , and like I said it led to the refs getting involved right after. Complete game changer because the bruins had nothing going to this point.

Until his double hip surgery Brad was easily the best overall winger in hockey. Ironically now that title is probably Marners. Brad is no where near as fast or as shifty was he once was and it's been a pretty negative impact on his game. But he still has the hands. Bruins fans would tell you he was bad in game 1 and 2 despite being the second leading producer for the team. It was nice to see him come out and just take over a period. He just dominated the Leafs and right before the extra day in the matchup too. Gave them something to stew on while they waited for the next one. You love to see it.
